1/ Engineered by #DrEvil, powered by @PowerUSAID, introduced by @RepMalinowski and financed by the pro_TPLF diaspora, #HR6600 promises to inaugurate a decade of bloodshed, starvation and instability in the HoA.
2/ @StateDept supported TPLF up until the last moment with the hope TPLF will come back to power. With their dreams dashed, it seems they came to the conclusion that their best bet is to work with the GOE. The ambassador was replaced & @PowerUSAID's seems to have been sidelined.
3/ Now, @DrTedros & @PowerUSAID are spearheading a change in strategy. The new strategy is all about twisting the arm of @StateDept through bills passed by the Senate or Congress.
4/ If you are wondering who would be tasked with developing the USG's strategy as per #HR6600, along with Blinken, look no further; it is @PowerUSAID. 
5/ Shortly after this bill is passed, #TPLF will go on the offensive. Any attempt to push #TPLF back by ENDF, EDF or ASF and FANO, will be construed as not complying with the terms of the bill.
6/ The TPLF will try to drag the war as long as possible, converting their 'million man' army into steady territorial gain with the aim of regaining Wolkayt and other #Amhara territories or the 'status quo ante' as GR put it.
7/ The more the war drags on the more ENDF will suffer because of sanctions against its ability to acquire arms including drones. #HR6600 specifically targets Turkey, Iran, China Russia and UAE.
8/ While #Ethiopia and #Eritrea suffer under economic sanctions and arms embargo, #TPLF will go unchecked. Its army fed by USAID and co, exempted by #HR6600 to continue its activities in Ethiopia.
9/ With loans and grants from the WBG, IMF & even the African Development Bank and African Development Fund gone, it will be next to impossible for the country to subsidize seed & fertilizers. Inflation & scarcity of imported necessities such as medical supplies will follow.
10/ This will likely plunge millions across Ethiopia into starvation. The war-ravaged populace of $Amhara and #Afar, still getting little to no food aid will face full-blown starvation. Food insecurity will also affect the fighting capacity and morale of the population.
11/ USAID will emerge as almost the sole provider of food and one can only imagine how @PowerUSAID will leverage her new found influence.
12/#HR6600 states that the sanctions will stay in place for TEN YEARS. However, one should keep in mind that Cuba, Iran and North Korea have been under sanction regimes for the past 60, 43 and 72 years respectively.
13/ What we have seen in other places is that under sanction regimes resource left over from the sanctions will be amassed by people in and around power.
14/ If one is convinced that the best way to ensure the government discharges its duty is through sanctions, one can always push for targeted sanctions that do not affect the already embattled population & the fighting capacity of the national & regional defense forces.
15/With the pro-Ethiopian camp divided & the GoE MIA, each passing day it's looking more & more probable that the bill might pass & become law. A terrifying prospect!
We Ethiopians, might not see eye to eye all the time but we always march hand in hand in defense of our promised land!
