1. People always tell you to do your own research, but you don't know where to start? This is a thread on how I conduct #DYOR on #cryptocurrency projects; hope it can serve as inspiration for you to dive deeper into #Blockchain.
2. First thing's first, I use excel to keep track of all of my findings. The main benefits:
-I don't waste time looking up something I've already looked up before
-I can easily compare metrics across projects
-I can conduct calculations and quantitative analysis
3. The first place I go is the website of the project. Here I look for the following:
-Project overview: does it solve a real problem / offer a unique solution
-Team: are they doxxed & do they have prior experience
-Roadmap: is there a clear timeline & has the team met milestones
4. The 2nd place I go is #CMC /#CoinGecko:
-Current market cap
-Fully diluted market cap
-Circ. supply as % of max supply: higher = better
-Listings: Tier1 exchanges (#binance, #ftx, #crypto.com, #coinbase, #kucoin)
-Liquidity (2% depth): higher = better
-# people watchlisted
5. The 3rd thing I check is socials:
-#Twitter follower # & if followed by key #KOLS
-Engagement: # comments, likes, retweets, are comments real or bots, etc.
-Chat groups (#Discord & #telegram): are people engaged & group active
6. The 4th thing I check is tokenomics, which can be found in the #whitepaper or platforms such as #messari or #binanceresearch
-How is the token divided b/w investors, the team, ecosystem etc.
-Token release schedule: when are tokens being unlocked, how much, and given to whom?
7. The 5th thing I check is sentiment using tools such as #LunarCrush , #santiment, or cryptopowerindex from
@paulbarron
:
-How has the socials been trending
-How is amplification compared to sentiment
-Who are the major #KOLs
-What's the current trending narrative
8. The 6th thing I check is onchain metrics on #dappradar, #santiment:
-# of users / players (current & trend)
-# of transactions / volume of transactions (current & trend)
-exchange inflows/outflows
-token holders: # and distribution (blockchain explorer)
9. Other things I look for:
-AMAs of founders
-VC investors
-major upcoming events/project upgrades
@CoinMarketCal
-% of tokens staked
@StakingRewards
-#TVL on
@DefiLlama
-technical analysis: % down from high, % up from bottom, fib level, MAs, MACD, RSI, chart patterns
-etc.
10. This is a general framework of the research/#duediligence process that I use.

In addition, I will try to find as much extra information as I can.
I will also compare metrics across projects to find strength & value.

Hope this thread can get you started on your own #dyor
