In his letter, he thanks MEP @ViolavonCramon for supporting sanctions on 🇷🇺 #energy, given 🇷🇺 "considerable income through sale of #naturalgas" to the #EU. 2/6

Melnyk cites the #Russian energy minister who said that 🇷🇺 gas industry sees a "range of opportunities" through the #EUTaxonomy, while #LNG terminals are excluded. Its conditions thus "clearly favour #Russian #gas." @ijabs @CiolosDacian 3/6

Melnyk suggests #Gazprom, #Rosatom & #Lukoil have done their #lobbying work in Brussels. In improving #investment conditions for #gas infrastructure at 40% 🇷🇺 #energy imports in 🇪🇺, it's clear that "🇷🇺 will profit." In a difficult phase for 🇺🇦, this would be a "fatal signal." 4/6

He notes that the Act had been proposed before the #Russian invasion. Otherwise, @EU_Commission might have included #LNG instead of conventional #gas plants. As the @Europarl_EN can't change that now, the only way to change course is to #VoteThisTaxonomyDown (this Act). 5/6
