Key takeaway: whether it’s at #Yale or USC, CUNY, UPenn or any number of other 🇺🇸 universities, it’s increasingly faculty in #STEM fields who are speaking out against campus #Antisemitism & the ostracism, harassment of #Jewish, #Zionist, #Israeli students & junior professionals.

The @UofDenver prestigious Korbel School is co-sponsoring a 5-day conference in Turkey alongside terror-linked NGOs & a host of sketchy guest speakers (one of whom meets regularly w/Hamas officials & was selected last year to serve as a member of its “leadership abroad”)😮😮
The conference is being hosted by CIGA, founded by ex-USF prof Sami Al-Arian (who pled guilty in 2006 to providing material support to the US-designated terror org PIJ and was deported to Turkey). Al Arian will also speak at the conference — along w/quite a few 🇺🇸-based faculty
Another co-sponsor is GCQP whose Sec. General is a former leader of the Al-Quds International Institution (designated & sanctioned by the @USTreasury in 2012 as “acting for/on behalf of Hamas”). Seriously, @UofDenver do you really want your logo next to it?

.@TheAENetwork is disappointed that @GavinNewsom @CAgovernor saw fit to ignore the Academic Senate @calstate, the university’s governing board, & scores of faculty, students, alumni 👨‍🎓 👩‍🎓 who favored a more inclusive, flexible (& cheaper for CA taxpayers!) alternative plan ☹️
Our organization fielded an Open Letter, signed by nearly 120 faculty across @calstate opposed to #AB1460, which represents a narrow understanding of ethnic studies pushed by “purists” & excludes Jews, women, LGBTQ as historically marginalized groups. 2/
We noted that AB1460 is unwarranted legislative interference into the academic independence of @calstate. A very good alternative proposal would have provided a more comprehensive & contemporary interpretation of ethnic studies & social justice, giving students greater choice! 3/

“Deadly Exchange”, a vile campaign being heavily promoted on & off 🇺🇸 campuses by virulently anti-#Israel orgs & activists, traffics in ugly #antisemitic tropes & canards.

The BDS movement has long exploited 🇺🇸 racial tensions, blaming #Israel 🇮🇱 for US policing problems. But “Deadly Exchange” comes w/a new, vile twist: @ADL, @AJCGlobal, @jinsadc & other American-Jewish orgs are cast as complicit in this nefarious effort to harm 🇺🇸 minorities 😮 1/
The “Deadly Exchange” propaganda campaign maintains that US policing problems, incl. wrongful deaths by US cops on the beat, are the result of the 1-2 week police 👮‍♀️ counter-terror seminars that American-Jewish orgs host in #Israel for high-level 🇺🇸 law enforcement officials. 2/

BDS resolutions, like this one at @APSAtweets, insist that only #Israeli academic institutions will be targeted for boycott & that individual scholars won’t be impacted. But every so often the mask slips, revealing that BDS activists are very aware of the harm they cause ☹️ 1/
In this case, Justine unearthed a tweet by one of the boycott ringleaders who clearly desires to exact maximum pain on #Israeli academics. In fact, he wants to make it very “hard” for them to have “normal academic careers” 😮 2/

Kudos to the co-editors of Israel Studies 👏👏 for defending the #academicfreedom of its contributors & refusing to suppress critiques of anti-#Zionist discourse & “scholarship”, re: the manipulation of language by virulently anti-#Israel academics.

It’s the height of #hypocrisy that critics of #WordCrimes who tried so hard to get this special issue retracted & relied on false accusations, smears of the editors & authors to do so, are now whining that the volume threats THEIR academic freedom to “engage in debate” 🤣🤣🤣 1/
In fact, as anyone who read the special issue knows, the contributors critiqued the prevailing terms & concepts used/misused today in many academic disciplines—which actually is hindering free and intellectually-rigorous debate on #Israel 🇮🇱. 2/
