Overnight, the situation became even worse. More people were pushed back to the islet & the group now consists of 70 people. The people reported shootings from border authorities. They still cannot move away from the islet & are exhausted.
We also contacted @Frontex which is active in the region, and asked how they address this situation. We received no answer. Once more, Frontex backs up their partners & their murderous practice.
End the blockade - let them move!
This group continues to be subjected to all kinds of physical & psychological violence. In their last message that came in over night, they report: 'Hell is really here. A little girl died today. She was stung by a scorpion. We couldn't do anything'.
1/ “The 5-year-old girl died from a dirty scorpion sting last night. The situation was tragic and her little older sister was stung and her condition is serious. We need a hospital. If no one acts to help her, she will die like her younger sister.”
2/ “Where is the humanity in the death of a girl who did not complete her six years of age after she lived war and oppression in Syria and Turkey and now on the Greek border?”
3/ “We had four deaths already and I can't bear to lose another person, another small person. She is struggling with death without me being able to do anything to her. The family was shocked and I am afraid of the complications of this trauma that they have.”
The Greek Council of Refugees (GCR) & HumanRights360 have already applied for interim measures, which were granted.
At 12:30 CEST today, we received the message:
"No one has come so far & the girl's condition is dangerous, her temperature is very high & she is vomiting something like water, & I don't know what will happen, no one wants to come to save her at all"
Greece seems to claim that the location of the distressed is not in Greek territory. @ECHR_CEDH would not have ordered the Greek state to evacuate the people if they were not on Greek soil. The @hellenicpolice has a duty to bring these people to safety immediately! #stoppushbacks
We had contact with Baida at 11:33 CEST today:
"Hello, I am very tired, the situation is still very bad. The girl that got stung by a scorpion is in bad condition, we are still trying to reduce her temperature with the river water and drink it, but she is afraid that the river...
...water will harm her because it is polluted. I do not know what to do really, tired of everything, please help us in any way. I'm dying here of starvation and thirst, and I'm dying mentally and physically."

🚩Don't forget them at sea!
The ~70 people called us again, nobody came to rescue them yet. The people are suffering as they don't have food and fuel is out as well. We urgently demand to rescue the group to prevent a tragedy at night!

🔴ULTIMORA!
🔺1° naufragio: 22 morti, 45 sopravvissuti detenuti.
🔴BREAKING! Six shipwrecks and almost 200 deaths off #Libya in September!
Hundreds of people have died in the Central Med over just a few days & again European authorities keep silent. Those who survived are alive only thanks to the efforts of fishermen.
As in August, most shipwrecks that happened in September were not recognised by any authority. With the exception of a few, we only heard of these tragic deaths at sea because traumatised survivors or brave fishermen reached out to #AlarmPhone to make their voices heard.
🔺1st shipwreck: 22 people died and 45 survivors detained.
IOM reported that on 14/09 a boat was rescued by the so-called Libyan Coast Guard. They arrived too late for 22 people who died after the boat capsized. The 45 survivors were imprisoned in the detention centre of Zawya.
🆘This morning, #AlarmPhone was alerted by some relatives about a boat with ~10 persons onboard, which departed on Monday night from Bab El Oued, in #Algeria. We informed authorities today at 3:20pm. @salvamentogov, the launch of a rescue operation is urgently needed!
🔴 WHERE ARE THEY?
No news concerning ~10 people in distress who left #Algeria on 21 September. We fear that they will have to survive a 4th night at sea. Relatives say they are on a white and blue wooden boat. @salvamentogob believe they are not in Spanish SAR zone yet.
Relatives keep calling us - they lost contact with their loved ones since Monday night. After we alerted authorities almost 24h ago, still no search and rescue in sight. We strongly ask @salvamentogob to search for them! We hope they are still alive.
