Dominic Raab is planning to curb judges’ powers in a move likely to make it harder to bring successful legal challenges against the government in England & Wales.

If it acts exactly like a fascist, it probably is a fascist.

The UK Government's barbaric Rwanda plan is eerily reminiscent of the Madagascar Plan, proposed by the Nazi Government in 1940 - a plan to forcibly relocate the Jewish population of Europe to the island of Madagascar.

If it looks exactly like fascism, it probably is a fascism.
It could never happen here, right?

Surely the British people would never tolerate any UK Govt joining forces with actual neo-Nazis across Europe, let alone actually introducing explicitly discriminatory laws.

If it precisely resembles fascism, it's almost certainly fascism.
I mean, after the abhorrent atrocities comitted by Nazi fascists during WWII & the Holocaust, no sane Government would attempt to roll back the human rights measures world leaders like Winston Churchill put in place to ensure it could never happen again?

I really don't say this lightly: it's time for everyone who still retains a shred of decency & compassion, & who mistakenly thinks 'it could never happen here', to understand it is now crystal clear that the UK Govt is implementing the #fascist playbook.

The fascist playbook:

Isolate the country

Use cultural issues to divide voters

Demonise & scapegoat minorities, Unions, & the Left

Undermine legal & democratic institutions

Promise to sort everything out using simplistic slogans

Replace democracy.

Of course, eventually people will wake up to the very real dangers of our out of control populist nationalist antidemocratic & authoritarian neofascist Government & participate in mass protests, but they've planned for this too, by criminlising protest:

Ruth Wodak has spent her life studying the rise of post-war neofascism: the best (& possibly only) way to prevent it is through the ballot box. But to achieve this, people need a clear alternative to vote for, which is currently not on offer in Britain.

It's no longer a question of IF #fascism is making a comeback, it's a question of where & how soon - ignoring it, or just hoping for the best, certainly won't make it go away.

I've just endured Nigel Farage's Hitlerian rant to CPAC: it's divisive, dangerously irresponsible conspiracy-fueled & utterly chilling textbook neofascist rhetoric.
The silence of most politicians, corporations, judges, journalists & citizens, in the face of the crystal clear & imminent threat, is both chilling & heartbreaking. WTAF was WWII FOR, if not the defeat of fascism?

It was first reported in 2020 that John Penrose, Tory MP husband of Dido Harding, is linked to free-market group 1828 which has called for the #NHS to be replaced by an insurance system. Apparently he is “delighted” to join its advisory board.

In 2019, the good people at Ducksoap warned us about the 1828 group, calling it an IEA creation: "a secretly funded right-wing (Tufton St) political lobby group", & yet another platform for anti-society anti-human pro-exploitation reckless philosophy of extreme free-marketeers.

Alito is a member of the Federalist Society, a group of conservatives & libertarian lawyers & legal students, founded in 1982 by a group of students who wanted to challenge liberal/left-wing ideology that they perceived to dominate most elite American law schools & universities.
The organization's stated objectives are "checking federal power, protecting individual liberty & interpreting the Constitution according to its original meaning".

They appear to have more in common with the Taliban & Christian fundamentalists than more civilised people.

World leading scholar on populism, Prof Ruth Wodak, is worried about European unity. Some EU countries abide by the EU conventions, others do not & some member states like Hungary & Poland behave as if nothing has been learned from history.

Prof. Wodak believes we are now living in a “post shame” age where all norms have been attacked by the populist and far-right parties. Lying for politicians has become so normal that nobody cares anymore whether they tell the truth or simply lie.
“This shamelessness also implies a mobilizing capacity because many people, Trump voters, for example, were very happy that Trump ‘finally said what everybody was thinking’.”

Despite many negative developments, Wodak thinks populist parties can be defeated at the ballot box.

While nearly a quarter of UK employees are union members, this is a much lower number than in many other *MORE EQUAL* European countries.

Nordic countries have far lower income inequality & higher trade union membership than Britain. 92.2% of workers belong to a union in Iceland & its Gini coefficient is just 26.1, compared with 41.5 in the US, where only 10.3% of workers are union members.
Over the past century, unions have successfully campaigned for a minimum wage, holiday & sickness pay, equal opportunity rights, maternity and paternity rights and a two-day weekend for British workers, among other benefits.

A recent poll of Tory voters conducted by JL Partners for the Telegraph showed 60% of them thought Sunak would make a good PM & 11% thought he'd be bad. The figures for Truss were 48% good & 32% bad. Among Tory VOTERS, Sunak is more popular & less polarising than Truss.
This was is reinforced by a poll from Opinium which asked respondents to identify who they thought did best in the leadership debate on ITV on July 17, when five candidates were still in the running. Sunak came second of the five with 24% of the vote. Truss came last with 7%. Image
A major problem for the Conservative Party is that its hard-right members & ERG extremists like Jacob Rees-Mogg actually disagree with Tory voters about who their leader should be. The @Conservatives may well end up with a leader popular in the party, but lacking in voter appeal. Image
