Did you know that the earliest chemical evidence of BARLEY #BEER#BREWING was discovered in the #Zagros mountains of Iran? A big part of why I decided to start @BackHomeBeer was to change the narrative about alcohol in the #MiddleEast. 1/5
Yes, #alcohol was outlawed in Iran in 1980 - but that was just 40 years ago. When my parents & grandparents lived in #Iran, there were #Breweries, #Distilleries and beautiful #Vineyards. 2/5
Before 1980, there was a rich history of #Fermentation that dates back thousands of years in the #MiddleEast. So when people ask me how I can brew a #Persian inspired #Beer….it’s because I want people to know these facts about the history of #Brewing in the region. 3/5
I would like to change the narrative. And when people ask me why I’m brewing a #Muslim#Beer, my answer is that I didn’t realize beer had a religion…and that perhaps we should share a round over a #Christian#Budweiser or #Catholic#Corona 😜 4/5
The 1st picture is a bar in #Tehran in the 70s. The 2nd picture is #ARGOBrewery in #Tehran, #Iran. It was condemned for a long time after the revolution (1980) and now operates as a non-#Alcoholic#CraftBrewery & art gallery. Check in stories for some labels from the brewery. 5/5

I’d like to introduce you all to my delivery vehicle! All the beer you’ve been drinking is delivered in this old Prius that now makes very strange noises. 1/4
We’ve been through a lot together - flat tires, a dead battery, parking tickets, a stolen catalytic converter, tears of joy + frustration, countless hours of Mariah Carey (don’t judge it’s nostalgic for me) and a few zoom calls in the passenger seat. 2/4
I’m slowly getting to the point where I’ll have to find a bigger delivery car - yes I’m now putting cases of beer in the car seat. Until then, you’ll find me in the Prius delivering your beer quickly before I get a parking ticket. 3/4
