Here in Brooklyn we celebrate the Battle, even though Washington & rebel army beat a retreat. If the 15,000 Brit + Hessian soldiers, 5 War Ships and remaining armada had slaughtered the rebels & captured Gen. Washington, we'd all have British accents today & wave the Union Jack🇬🇧
The Brit/Hessian landing force entered Brooklyn near today's Verrazano Bridge. Dutch families betrayed the American rebels, guiding Red Coats to attack positions. Brave 400 rebels from MD & Del sacrificed in battle, giving Washington & the main rebel forces a chance to escape.

The @theNASEM is holding an all day session now on airborne transmission of #COVID19 & other microbes.
Don Milton says @theNASEM that #SARSCoV2 is "evolving towards better aerosol transmission" between people.
So far tyhe big take-home message @theNASEM mtg on airborne spread of #SARASCoV2 is that we need to improve spaces, not people/mask wearing. And very exciting findings on ways to ventillate and scrub air are presented.

Greenland
I was there in 2019 when record heat caused the island to lose more than 530 billion tons from its ice sheet -- the largest annual loss since record-keeping began in 1948.
The 2022 heatwaves threaten to break 2019 records.

2/ Two things are happening: old ice is melting, never to be replenished, pushing rising sea levels. And new sea ice is failing to form at historic levels. While eyes have been on Europe's soaring heat, it's been HOT over the North Pole & pts of #Greenland , too.

3/ So far, #Greenland looks on track to see more melting of it's ice sheet than occurred with record-breaker 2019 summer. This is #GlobalWarming planet-wide impact, as fresh water pours into salty seas, altering ocean chemistry & temperatures.
