The west is experiencing a #watercrisis, & it’s inflamed by lack of cross state collaboration. People claim that a regular database can serve the same function as a blockchain database. If that’s the case, why haven’t the states had a centralized database created & set up yet?🧵
We had thousands of people point & laugh at the suggested use of blockchain without actually understanding the major breakdowns in the water management across the western half of the United States.
That having a method to analyze water usage in real time across state lines seems too simple a fix to a major problem. As it stands today there is no easy way for real time water data to be communicated across state lines & current database tech lacks the security.
DLT also makes the water data data untampered, accurate, & without error as it is entered into they system.
The information shared across states can be misrepresented, changed, & network congestion slows the sharing of information.
Distributed Ledger Technology (#DLT) more commonly known as #blockchain solves these issues. It allows for real time queries of water data without having to go through complexities of coordination of cross state government departments.
In addition around the nation heavy investment is needed in our aging pipes, some which are approaching being 100 years old and losing 25% of the water which passes through them.
Investing and upgrading these pipes with smart features like sensor devices that are called Internet Of Things (#IOT) can track water usage & exchange data over the distributed ledger will allow for supply chain management & traceability of water.
Even more beneficial, when pipes break, or a leak is identified these smart metering systems allow us to quickly and easily identify leaks in the pipes and notify water management agencies in real time.
This pairing of technology between IOT & DLT will record the consumption & production of water in a manner which states can have true cross state water management collaboration in the United States. #blockchain

Why do I donate time & money to political candidates? Because I want voters to know about them & win. Donations from candidates go directly to marketing. That’s billboards, TV ads, newspaper ads, booths at events, getting a team to knock doors, & market to 850k-40M people. 🧵
Political contributions are an important fact of life in democracy. Contributing to candidates, campaigns, and organizations that you support is the only way to give them the resources to win, and to effectively advocate for the issues that you care about.
