Liz Truss’s chief of staff being paid through his lobbying company could reportedly allow him to pay less tax. According to the Sunday Times, Fullbrook is refusing to explain the agreement that lets him direct government strategy without being directly employed by the UK Govt.

Between April & June, Fullbrook’s company contacted the UK Govt on behalf of clients such as the Libyan House of Representatives, which is opposed by the West & the UN, an energy provider, & a PPE firm linked to a fundamentalist Christian sect, according to the Sunday Times.

The news emerged just two days after Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng scrapped the IR35 reforms set up to stop people paying themselves via a company to avoid paying tax.

Tax expert & the founder of Tax Policy Associates, Dan Neidle, said: "I don’t understand why someone would do it."

Mark Fullbrook, the new Downing St chief of staff, was interviewed by the FBI as a witness about work he did for a banker accused of bribery. Fullbrook is involved because at the time he was working for CT, a political consultancy founded by Lynton Crosby. theguardian.com/politics/2022/…

In July, a confidential document prepared by CT Group, which advises Boris Johnson, proposed that conventions & standards of propriety are ignored in an effort to secure political nominees to the Lords who will help the Govt.

And in June, it was revealed that Master of 'wedge issues', Lynton Crosby, had been attending Boris Johnson’s meetings in No 10.

The political strategist, whose advisory firm has represented tobacco as well as oil & gas interests, is at the heart of Johnson's political strategy.

When you're a bit of a political anorak like me, revelations like these aren't remotely surprising. In fact, they're all entirely predictable, & they're all largely & often deliberately hidden from the voting public.
