The significance of the appliation is the choice, the direction. while russia forces itself to either FINALLY declare war on us (which they won't be able to stop without capitulation or at least a ceasefire they'll need to negotiate) or be laughing stock (which they are anyway)->
In fact by not accepting us into #NATO, NATO avoids the mistake putin makes - now inevitable liberation of #Kherson, #Zaporizhzhia region, #Donbas & #Crimea will be a painful disaster, humiliation. Denying us membership NATO can bail on us any moment w/o dismantling the alliance
