π§ From 12.15pm today, 15 Just Stop Oil supporters have blocked Commerical Street by Spitalfields Market in London. They are demanding that the government halts all new oil and gas licences.

π§― At 8:30am today, 6 Just Stop Oil supporters sprayed orange paint from fire extinguishers onto the Home Office, the MI5 building, the Bank of England and the headquarters of News Corp at London Bridge.
π’ They are demanding that the Government halts all new oil and gas consents and licences.
π The buildings were chosen to represent the four pillars that support and maintain the power of the fossil fuel economy β government, security, finance and media.
π£ A Just Stop Oil spokesperson said:
βWe are not prepared to stand by and watch while everything we love is destroyed, while vulnerable people go hungry and fossil fuel companies and the rich profit from our misery.
π§ At noon today, 61 Just Stop Oil supporters stopped traffic on Charing Cross Road, Kensington High Street, Kennington Road and Blackfriars Road, demanding that the Government halts all new oil and gas consents and licences.
π¦Ί Anna Berrill, a 20-year-old philosophy student from Leeds, said:
βI'm doing this because it breaks my heart to witness the tragedies that are happening and will keep coming because of our actions, and to live in a crumbling world and not do anything is unbearable.β
π¦Ί Helen Redfern, 57, a grandmother of four and social enterprise founder from Gateshead, said:
βI'm joining the Just Stop Oil campaign today because for me, taking nonviolent direct action seems to be the only option left to me.
π§ββοΈ Earlier today, supporters of Just Stop Oil marched from Downing St to Westminster Magistratesβ Court and stood in solidarity with fellow supporters who had plea hearings there today.
π Metropolitan Police have begun remanding supporters of Just Stop Oil in custody to immediately charge them for alleged obstruction of the highway.
π We will not be intimidated by changes to the law and we will not be stopped by private injunctions sought to silence peaceful people. We understand that these are irrelevant when set against the collapse of society as we know it.

π¬ βI'm taking action because the status quo needs to change; we cannot continue using fossil fuels when we know it is causing increasingly severe weather and making areas of the world uninhabitable.
