"You will destroy the sanctity of this place."
"If you don't take the children and go from here, people will come and beat you."
This is what kids from @snehdhara foundation were told when they went on a field trip to Gollahalli railways station.
The foundation works with children/adults who are differently-abled, their caregivers, and their families.
They were taken to show trains and what a station looked like and received an uncalled-for lecture in return. @BlrCityPolice @CPBlr I expect you to act.
The foundation was ready to buy platform tickets in accordance with the rules - to enforce the norms for the children and for safety. But none of that really mattered. Their mere presence seemed to be a violation of the rules. @Virali01 @namrasha
But in the end, they did get to see the trains. "We did and will continue to fight back to give voice to our children, over and over again. Inclusion comes with perseverance. Two steps forward and one step back is still progressing toward this vision." said the teacher.
Why are we so insensitive? Why do we let our kids go through ridiculously discriminatory experiences?
@DKSureshINC this happened in your constituency, can you please take action against the erring staff? @Sowmyareddyr pls help.

@Khetarpalabha tagging you to seek help.

Today I finished the 5-week program organized by @_nywc called the Steps to work meant for women wanting to get back to work after a break. This #Thread is to give a shoutout to the wonderful ppl at NYWC and also to highlight the need for such a program in India. 1/n
This program is spread over 5 weeks. Each session lasts about 2 hours, and every week has 2 sessions. In every session, there is a guest speaker. Every guest is from a different org that supports women to get back to work in various ways. 2/n
Are you struggling with your resume? There is an org willing to help you with that. You are not confident about attending interviews? That is ok, there is someone who can help you mock interviews. @CareersWomen 3/n

One of the most often racist comments I have found is the judgment on food. While in Bombay, a friend was relocating to Hyderabad. She hated the city (she had never been there). She hailed from UP, grew up in Delhi. I have strong ties to Hyderabad, she knew it.
She had the guts to tell me to my face: kaise kaise log hote, kaale kaale rang, din mai teen bar chawal sambad (please note that she said d for r at the end of sambar) khate hai, third class log. Kaise bore nahi hote hai yaar. (All this while having lunch at my place, I had made
Rice and sambar, because she liked it).

About a week ago, my cousin reached out to our family group asking for financial help to set up a #covid19 care center in Anekal Taluk in Karnataka. They had begun work on it about a week ago. ImageImage
They have achieved a lot in less than 3 weeks. They are using so much of Govt Infrastructure itself for this. An NGO with limited resources could set it up from scratch in about 3 weeks, I cant help but wonder why cant our govt be more resourceful? ImageImage
This is an update I got from them this Monday Image

People often ask me why and how did I get Abhiram to start A Thirsty Mind. I have two reasons.
Firstly, he has grown up seeing my #workfromhome. It simply meant all his life he has watched me, #interview people.
Sometimes it annoyed him, but of late it is fascinating him. “How cool amma, you earn money by asking people questions, even I want to do that!” I said, why not?
Secondly, while toying with the thought of encouraging him to ask questions to people, Vendanth started his #podcast.
It resolved the challenge of using a particular medium for Abhiram to conduct interviews. Presenting here, an interesting episode of Curious Vedanth, where he talks to B R Rajeev, a CG Supervisor. #PodcastRecommendations
