🇨🇱 🇩🇪Chile and Germany - Finance for L&D

#LossandDamage Finance - G77 and China are UNITED! They have presented a clear and concise path which follows in many ways the precedence of the #GCF and Adaptation Fund.

The path starts at #COP27:
1) Agreeing a #LossandDamage Fund as an Operating Entity of the Financial Mechanism of the #UNFCCC
2) Agreeing a Transitional Committee to iron out the details no later than #COP28!

Simple, clear and in tune!

On the flip side, developed countries have no plan but to delay action until 2024 with repetitive and costly workshops, talkshops and reports, with no clear indication of what the end outcome will be.

Developed Countries are sowing disharmony - trying to divide the G77+China but they will not succeed. The US is a major blocker as are the EU, Norway, Switzerland, EIG…see a theme? You pay lip service to #ClimateJustice but that is all. We are watching you‼️

Adaptation - new text on GGA with some options, but Parties need to narrow these down and adopt a framework at this #COP27 that is anchored in the cover decision 📰unfccc.int/sites/default/…

On the vital issue of National #Adaptation Plans (NAPS) discussion is deadlocked as the critical element of #Finance is bracketed!

As adaptation is a priority for developing countries and the continent of Africa, we need more than a procedural element to be delivered at @COP27P #NoSilenceonAdaptation ‼️#AdaptationImplementationNow ‼️

After hearing the #MWP action, negotiators must have felt energized as we have a more constructive and streamlined draft text now but more work is left to do!
The Mitigation Work Program is what we need for #1o5ToStayAlive

The cover text which captures the outcomes of this COP is generating a lot of concerns as it has been presented as a set of bullets.

This implementation COP is weak on implementation‼️

The cover text does not mention fossil fuels and energy transition, nor the finance transformation agenda, nor the timebound tracking of adaptation finance as well as 50% share.

It's not that complicated, sing with us:
