Emergency power cuts are introduced today throughout #Ukraine according to Ukrenergo
The current power deficit has reached 27% according to the statement, up from 20% yesterday after repairs were made. It seems this setback is due to higher power consumption, due to the drop in temperatures.
The power deficit before the latest Russian strike was on average 10-15%, but climber to 30% as a result of the strikes.
Ukraine is effectively in a race against time to repair its infrastructure before the next large-scale Russian strike against it.
#Ukrainian authorities are also rushing the installation of "unbreakable points" with power generators, shelter and water supplies that would remain active even during blackouts.
This is (partly) why power generators are needed, with many countries transferring units to the #Ukraine and planning to continue to do so in the coming months.
Ukrenergo says that, as of this morning, the country's energy deficit still stands at 30% as a result of the waves of Russian strikes that have hit #Ukraine's energy infrastructure
Ukrenergo says that the higher deficit (compared to 15 to 20 % prior to the November 23 strike) is due to the higher consumption, and the need to implement emergency shut down of several plants yesterday morning
BTW I am working on an upcoming article for @cepa, on this new "war against the dark" that #Ukraine is being forced to fight due to the regular strikes carried out by #Russia

According to this report, quoting US intelligence sources, #Iran and #Russia have inked a deal to begin manufacturing hundreds of drones on Russian soil
washingtonpost.com/national-secur…
This is bound to have multiple consequences, the first obviously being on #Ukraine - but not only

A 🧵on the importance of the deepening #Iran- #Russia collaboration
The agreement shows the two countries have moved to deepen their military collaboration. This is no longer a "commercial" deal that sees #Iran provide #Russia with drones. It is effectively a joint military project, where both sides may benefit from expertise from the other

🚩According to the Ukrainian military Stratcom is quoting an article claiming that one of the two cruise missiles shot down over #Kyiv yesterday morning contained an emptied out nuclear warhead.
t.me/AFUStratCom/98…
What this means (if I understand correctly) is that the Russians used a cruise missile (Kh-55) modified to carry out a nuclear warhead, but emptied the compartment where the nuclear warhead is supposed to be
Or more accurately, they did not place a nuclear warhead (rather than emptied it) and put a dummy nuclear warhead instead (happy to be corrected as I have limited knowledge on nuclear warhead being mounted on cruise missiles, particularly missiles this old)

I have been meaning to use the ability to create longer form analysis on telegram as an addition to twitter - I will be posting a short update on #Ukraine in a bit
And no, I am not leaving twitter, though I can't say that this has nothing to do with concerns I have for the platform - a platform I personally love, for all of its faults, and the only social media I actually use.

One of the less-covered issues with regards to the #Yemen conflict, is how the #Iran-backed Houthis have carried out a systematic campaign of arrest and intimidation to muzzle any semblance of “opposition”
Journalists not following the Houthi-controlled government line have systematically been arrested, some of them detained for years without a trial
Those who have been tried received severe sentences, including death sentences. They face the prospect of torture in detention camps, and their families are often unaware of their fate.

🚩The Ukrainian General Staff is giving ground to claims that the Kherson evacuation may be aimed at baiting Ukrainian forces into launching an offensive >>
There's been many signs that Russia may be looking to withdraw from Kherson, but some Ukrainian officials are skeptical they will do so without a fight.
In one of its latest update the #Ukrainian General Staff reported that Russian soldiers are wearing civilian clothes, occupying civilian buildings. This suggests they are preparing for an urban battle
