#Hostage_situation in #Bannu:
Armed militants of unknown group stormed an installation of the Counter-Terrorism Department (#CTD) of #Pakistan in Bannu, released dozens of prisoners and took 9 PAK security forces, including Major Khorshid Akram (as militants claim) hostages...
...In an unverified video, they claimed that they are 35 people and asking PAK Army to provide them safe #air_transport to #AFG (in ten minutes), in exchange for the release of all hostages. They warned to kill all 9 hostages& will fight till death, if their #demand was rejected.
Note:
While it is early to comment, but the wording of the hostage takers in Bannu (using respectful words to PAK army), their demand (to be airlifted to AFG)& the overall scene, seems to be 'staged'...a #victimization drama of PAK& to prove that AFG is safe haven for terrorists.
Below is a media report about the hostage situation in #Bannu.
it is noteworthy that the #TTP, or any other group, didn't claim the attack yet.
In the video, hostage takers didn't attribute themselves to a specific group, saying "we are Mujahidin-e Islam". news18.com/news/world/9-p…
Another unverified video from #Bannu hostage situation...
(copied from SM)
Special assistant to KPK chief minister on info Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif said no one had attacked the #CTD facility in Bannu, rather some suspects in custody under suspicion of terrorism tried to #snatch_weapons from security personnel deployed on site. dawn.com/news/1727008/m…
A hostage taker in the first video saying:
"We dreamed yesterday& we were told in dream to attack them (interrogators/officials), kill some of them& take hostage the rest. Then Allah will guide you along the way."
The free movement of hostage takers in 2nd video is #questionable.
In a statement, the TTP confirmed that some of the hostage takers in Bannu were the members of the group.
TTP warned if the hostage takers' demands (safe passage to TTP controlled areas) were not met, the PAK government would be responsible for the consequences/death of hostages.
TTP:
"The only way to save the soldiers&prison staff who are trapped there is to transfer prisoners to North or South Waziristan according to their demand. Since they did not fully understand the current situation due to many years of being in secret prisons, they mentioned AFG."
There are also other prisoners in the Bannu jail, beside TTP linked inmates...in the video, those other prisoners asking PAK government to rescue them.
In the fourth video, the hostage takers in Bannu changed their demand, saying they want a safe passage to Wana of South Waziristan, not to Afghanistan. Despite the siege of Bannu CTD related compound by PAK Army, the communication of hostage takers to the outside is questionable.
As the hostage situation continue, according to @khorasandiary, "Deputy Commissioner (DC) District Bannu, in a notification, has announced a public holiday across the district in all public&private educational institutions for tomorrow, December 20, 2022."
While the #hostage_situation in #Bannu continues for the third day& the government closed all educational institutions, communications& govt. offices in the area, the #TTP leader in an audio message congratulated the hostage takers& praised their action.
Mufti Noor Wali Mahsood in his audio clip warned the TTP related hostage takers in Bannu CTD compound to be careful and not to get cheated by PAK government's false promises, and asked them to firmly stand on their stance until victory, "either safe passage or matyrdom".
The TTP's defense minister, in an earlier video of the group about the Bannu hostage situation, asked people to pray for the TTP members. The senior hostage taker, commander Zarar in a part of the video is saying that they have pledged allegiance to death.
PAK Army's SSG launched an #operation against #TTP militants who are in control of a CTD installation in #Bannu& took an unknown number of people, including some PAK security forces members, as #hostage, to end the deadlock.
Negotiations reportedly failed.
ISPR:
25 TTP members were killed in the clash, 3 were arrested and 7 surrendered to the forces.
3 PAK security officers were killed in the operation while 10, incl. 3 officers, were injured.

Questioning the Taliban's claim regarding the killing of Ziauddin, a former acting leader of #ISKP, @TajudenSoroush wrote that according to ex-government officials, he was actually killed on 15 August 2021, while escaping from a prison in Kabul City.
I am going to explain more...
The TB claimed killing of ZIAUDDIN, but the name of the former interim leader of #ISKP who was killed during a prison break in Kabul was ZIAULHAQ alias Abu Umar Khorasani.
The story of his killing was published in the 6th issue of the ISKP's Voice of Khorasan magazine, in Pashto.
Now the question is:
So, who was Mawlawi Ziauddin, who was allegedly killed by the Taliban in Balkh province?
Till now, there is no evidence (in open sources) to show that Ziauddin was the former interim leader or a key commander of the ISKP in AFG.
It is worth mentioning that...
#Taliban's intelligence provided details about the identities of the #ISKP members who were killed during raids on 17 March 2023 in 3 locations of #Mazar-e Sharif City: 1. Mawlawi Ziauddin, ex-acting-governor of Khorasan Province (acting-head of the ISKP for Afghanistan), who ...
... was currently in charge of the ISKP courts& justice system. Ziauddin also known as Mawlawi Mohammad, was the number 02 leader of Khorasan Province. 2. Abu Umar Afridi, a leadership council member of the ISKP group. 3. Ustad Salman Tajikistani, an expert of IED making&military
...trainings.
Also, some time ago, operations were conducted in #Faryab province, as a result of which all the members of the Khawarij group, who were involved in the attack on the governor of Balkh province& several other attacks in Balkh, Faryab& Kabul province, were arrested.
Beside the usual propaganda against the Taliban& Arab regimes, the latest issue of the #ISKP's Voice of Khorasan magazine in Arabic, include a long article about the #UN & other #NGOs operating in #AFG.
Pro-government PAK religious scholars also condemned by ISKP in the magazine.
The article named "the most famous" non governmental organizations currently operating in Afghanistan under the Taliban regime as "CARE International, UNICEF, ICRC, NRC, AKDN, Save the Children..." adding that a big compound of the UN located n the Paktiakot area of Kabul City...
...is "the evidence of the maliciousness and heresy of the Taliban and the cooperation of this misguided group with the infidels."
The last paragraph of the article is calling on Afghans to stay away from NGOs& encourage the youths to join the ISKP and fight against the Taliban.
In an unverified letter attributed to the Craftsmen& Shopkeepers Chamber of #Parwan, the #women's hair salons in the province are directed to consider some Islamic regulations during their work.
The letter is from CSC but some of its contents seem to be from the Vice& Virtue Dep.
"1. Hairdressers should do their job according to the principles of Islam. 2. They should #pray inside the shop after closing the door of the shop during prayer times. 3. Inside the salons, ethical& Islamic issues including observing #Hijab, should be considered. 4. Customers ...
...should make ablution before applying make-up. 5. As far as possible, do not use cosmetics that make ablution invalid. 6. It is strictly forbidden to sell the cut hair of customers. 9. Inside the salons, there should be a suitable place for customers to make ablution.
#Taliban@moiafghanistan's spokesman:
"Today at 11:30 a.m., an explosion occurred at the Shia's Tebyan cultural center in PD2 of Mazar-e-Sharif, Balkh province.
One guard of the said cultural center was killed&8 people including 5 journalists&3 children were injured n the blast."
@avapress, the media outlet of Tebyan Cultural & Social Center, meanwhile reported that 3 people were killed & 30 more wounded in today's #explosion in #Mazar-e Sharif City. #ISKP group is the main suspect behind today's explosion that targeted a #Shia center connected to #Iran.
The head of Tebyan Center, a pro-Iran Shia Afghan @hosseinimazari, in a statement condemned today's attack in Mazar-e Sharif claiming that the cultural&social center "was attacked by terrorists affiliated with #America& its allies, and nearly 40 people were killed and injured."
A #Pakistani_delegation lead by the country's Defense Minister& include ISI chief, arrived in #Kabul and met with the Taliban's Deputy PM, Mullah Baradar.
"The two sides discussed the development of bilateral relations, trade, regional connectivity&economic cooperation," TB said.
The #Taliban in the below statement finally disclosed the actual contents of today's meeting with #PAK officials:
"In the meeting, there was a clear&detailed discussion on the security concerns of both sides, the drone flights over our territory& the activities of the militants."
According to @khorasandiary, Pakistani officials had serious talks with the Taliban in Kabul warning them of considering any option if TTP attacks continue.
Meanwhile, a PAK journalist reported about the #assassination of a senior #TTP commander in #Kunar Province of Afghanistan.
