It's Tuesday and it's Day 314 of #Russia's illegal invasion of #Ukraine.

They planned to take #Kyiv in 3-4 days, have a new President and control the entire country in 10 days. How's that going Mr Putin?

Here, all the news in one place, updated throughout the day.

#StopRussia
Lots of activity yesterday as #Russia was careless again and again.

If you enjoy reading about Russian losses and stupidity, you will probably enjoy clicking and scrolling through yesterday's thread right here:

#StandWithUkraine

I've had no direct update from eastern front, but gathering intel from various most reliable sources, it appears #Russia gained a little ground on the outskirts of #Soledar + #Bakhmut also, but have failed to get to the residential area which they briefly managed a while ago.
Yesterday I wrote about locals in #Voronezh getting worried amid explosions near the military airfield - finally #Russia was forced to admit some "activity" but passed it off as air defence hitting one "small drone"

There were similar scenes tonight in the city:
#StopRussia
This is being reported by a #Ukraine official, but personally I doubt its authenticity.

Claims of 5,000 mobilisation forms being printed urgently in #Krasnodar region of #Russia.
Names and dates are supposedly left off to fill in as and when needed for quicker turnaround.
Thx also @wholedonut who saw this:

Forgot point number 5 - leave your phone on permanently so Ukrainians can see if you're home!

Last night I reported on the possible drone attack on #Russia's bases in #Crimea.

Always difficult to know the truth from occupied areas, but cannot see any indications in chat sites of genuine landings or damage.

Head of #Sevastopol says two drones were shot down over the sea.
Another big reported strike on Russia's positions came in #Luhansk region, in the town of #Svatove.

I cannot trace the origin of this photo, which is said to be from the scene. I found it via TG channel Ukraine_365News, but cannot verify it yet.

#RussiansGoHome
First donation of the day from S.H.
Thank you very much indeed for the coffees.
May the sky be bright all day where you are.💙💛
Air raid alerts sound in some southern and eastern regions of #Ukraine.
The fall out continues after the massive strike on the newly mobilised Russians in #Makiivka.

#Samara Gov Dmitry Azarov admits what I already wrote, that they were from his region.
“Our compatriots were also under attack by enemy forces. There are wounded, alas, there are dead."
Meanwhile #Russia and its puppet "DPR" are on the verge of falling out over the loss of hundreds of new soldiers in the hit on #Makiivka.

Donetsk "officials" blaming Russians for leaving their phones on. Claims were made on Russian TV channels, angering Moscow.
As I suspected, the daily losses keep rising for #Russia

A mammoth 750 more killed in battle for #Putin's needless war.

Already we are approaching 110,000 deaths.
#RussiansGoHome #StopRussia
British Intelligence confidently asserts that #Russia will NOT be able to make any breakthrough in #Bakhmut for the foreseeable future.

#StopRussia
#Russia's Defence force says the filming company "s'yemka s vozdukha" (Filming from the Air) is now supplying them with drones for the war.

The small UAVs can slo be equipped with thermal imaging cameras and the ability to drop grenades.

#StopRussia #StandWithUkraine
Following the devastating missile strike on the ice rink in #Druzhivka, the wall may have fallen, but the flag of Ukraine remained.

A revealing photo by Yuliya Pivovar, the city's head of sports and culture.

The explosion was witnessed live by a million French TV viewers
It goes without saying that #Russia continues to hit #Kherson. 79 times the region was shelled.

2 people died in the attacks and another 9 residents were wounded in the attacks.

Here, just some of the damage caused to one of the apartment blocks.

#StopRussia
Translation of a post on social media in #Russia.

Somehow I have no sympathy. They seem surprised their husbands and sons are treated like cattle.

This was posted 11 days ago. Mr Katalikov may already be dead.

#RussiansGoHome
On #Crimea the Occupiers write about successes for #Russia's air defences. But some locals in #Dzhankoy and #Yevpatoria write about explosions.

#CrimeaIsUkraine #StandWithUkraine

A cautionary note about this story from #Ukraine's Southern Command spokesperson.

I was careful not to say "liberation" and Nataliia Humenyuk says it's too early to use the word when talking about Greater Potemkin island in #Kherson region.

2/2

Humenyuk says "Establishing the flag is a signal to the enemy that the land is ours"

#Russia's bloggers claim #Ukraine's soldiers nip across the water to take selfies with a flag and head back. But if #Russia still controlled the barren land they'd soon shoot up enemy craft
#RussiaOnFire

In Novy Oskol, near the border with #Ukraine, heavy smoke is rising and on a #Belgorod chat site some say it's a military facility, but they could easily be mischievous Ukrainians.

There does seem to have been some sort of explosion. Awaiting further news...
Here's a video today of the destroyed ice rink and arena in #Donetsk region, attacked by #Russia last night.

No weapons, ammunition or army. This was a working arena in #Druzhivka where the Donbas hockey team trained; classes were still held for players and figure skaters alike.
Another big blow for #Russia and perhaps another piece in the jigsaw which leads to widespread street protests from mothers.

This is occupied #Tokmak in #Zaporozhzhia. This building housed another large contingent of newly mobilised ("mobchiks") according to partisan locals.
UK PM Rishi Sunak has told #Ukraine's President that they "can count on the UK to continue to support it for the long term."

Sunak held a call with Volodymyr Zelenskyy today.
Just noticed a tweet earlier today outlining another alleged war crime from #Putin's band of criminals.

#Ukraine's Defence Minister accuses #Russia of destroying a power plant.

There really is not a lot going on in #Ukraine. Many news sites trying to fill with stories which are speculation or not important. Just wanted you to know you're not missing anything!
On New Year's Eve I highlighted the immoral and disgusting stance of @Bonduelle_Group

Finally a few in #France are picking up the baton. Thank you @felicia_sidx for the original thread and to @Euan_MacDonald for translating and keeping up the pressure

Someone's found a few new views of the recent bombing of a hotel in #Kyiv.

I find the addition of music and errr... 'arty' editing pointless, but maybe I'm just getting old?

#RussiaIsATerroristState
More explosions recorded in #Kursk, on the border with #Ukraine.
#Rostov is getting some attention too.
#Russia's Air Defence working by the look of it.

#StandWithUkraine
In #Samara Russian families were today grieving the loss of servicemen (63 or 400 depending on which side you believe) in #Makiivka.

#RussiansGoHome
One person was injured when a rocket hit #Zaporizhzhia region tonight.

Infrastructure and local houses were also damaged.
A fire at the site has now been extinguished according to the regional governor.

#RussiaIsATerroristState #SaveUkraine
#Russia quietly announces that among the dead in the #Makiivka (RU: #Makeevka) was Deputy Commander of the Regiment, Lieutenant Colonel Bachurin.

They now admit the death toll has risen from 63 to 89.
In reality it is way higher.

#RussiansGoHome
A tragicomedy! #Russia pretends it immediately returned fire on the MLRS which hit #Makiivka, destroying the rocket launcher.

Moscow also claims they killed 200+ #Ukraine troops "and foreign mercenaries" by destroying the ice rink in #Druzhivka and hitting a nearby train station
In #Kherson once again #Russia has resorted to using incendiary munitions tonight.

These are thermite, spontaneously igniting in the air. Temperatures can reach 3000 degrees Celcius and cause widespread fires and damage.

Not restricting use to military targets is a war crime.

Hello again. Day 1203 of Russia's genocidal war in Ukraine

Anyone with a brain slightly larger than that of a chihuahua knows it. Russian history and Putin's own words spelt it out, but peaceniks, Naziniks and idiotniks are still in denial

More proof coming up in🧵for Day 1203
Yesterday's thread lasted well over 24 hours, but nothing to be proud of.

I know I'm crazier than you, and thankfully you all have lives to live. So you will be needing the link to the start of yesterday's thread so you can catch up on what you missed..

Genocide - a short thread within a🧵
I am simply staggered governments and world organisations are too weak to acknowledge the mountain of evidence.

The recent huge missile attacks should be enough, but useful idiots are fooled by Russia's plausible deniability.

A very early start to my daily thread on Day 1202 of Russia's 3 day 'special operation' to capture Kyiv.

It's so special Putin just doesn't want it to stop!

It's another no-sleep night as I start Monday's news feed on all things Ukraine.

Thanks for your support, I rely on you
Another huge Russian attack continues as I type. It could be the biggest yet.

The attack started about half way through yesterday's thread! So catch up here if you're just waking up.

The biggest problem in Ukraine tonight has been for Dubno, in Rivne region.

Heavily attacked in the evening, but now as light bathes the town, it's even worse. All cruise missiles in Ukraine are about to hit, and 3 drones too.

Day 1201 of Europe's war.
But the pre-conflict hybrid war has already been waging worldwide for years. Hacking, election interference, sabotage - we're all targeted by Russia, even if we don't all realise it yet.

Ukraine can stop the war criminal with our help.
Welcome to the🧵
Maybe Sunday will bless Ukraine with a quiet day?

Saturday was another full-on journalistic stint, catching sleep when I could.
Kharkiv shattered overnight then a daytime attack on a kids' railway.
Operation Web 2.0 & a factory hit in Russia.
It's all ⬇️

Early this morning, just before the end of the previous thread I showed the Azot chemical plant in Tula region on fire.
Not long afterwards, Ukraine hit another facility, this time in Russia-controlled 🇺🇦

This is the Hydromash factory in Melitopol' in occupied Zaporizhzhia.

Welcome to yet another daily thread covering all things Ukraine and Russia.

It's Day 1195 and the day of the latest talks between the sides in Istanbul.

But all the buzz is still about one of the most incredible and successful military attacks ever, and Russia is hurting.
Ukraine's astonishingly well planned, daring and audacious attack is front page news around the world this morning.

If somehow you don't know what I am writing about, you're in for a treat. Re-live the extraordinary day by scrolling through Sunday's🧵⬇️

First important news from Poland where the Presidential election has been won by the anti-EU, anti-Ukraine candidate, right-wing Nawrocki

Day 1194 of Putin's war, though let's remember the initial invasion came 11 years ago.

Since February 2014, not once have western sanctions or military support come close to being enough to restore justice and defeat evil.

Welcome to THE daily 🇺🇦 thread for Sunday 1 June
A new day, a new season. Summer officially started, but nothing is likely to change just yet.

Y'day's thread had some great stories, but everything paled into insignificance when justy before midnight came news of a disaster in Russia's Bryansk region:
1/5
I want to start with events in Bryansk region.
What's happened is a tragedy even if you believe all Russians are partly to blame for the war.

7 people died - five passengers on a train and 2 in a truck. 69 were injured.

The lorry crashed down when the bridge collapsed.

Another night of no sleep yet - dramatic action in Moscow.

Time to start another daily thread covering everything to do with Putin's disastrous 'operation' in Ukraine.

It's 5am in Russia and Ukraine, on Day 1190 of the war.
Let's begin...
I've still NEVER missed even one day since the start of Russia's full invasion.

But yesterday's thread ended up being one of the most lively. Another near 50-post story of the day, and if you like seeing "bavovna" in Russia, go right through to the end!
1/3
Russia says 33 drones have been shot down approaching Moscow during the night.

The biggest incident is clearly this at the Mikron micro-electronics plant in Zelenograd, in Moscow oblast...
