It's a wet and windy start to the week where I am, hope it's better where you are.
In #Kyiv + #Bakhmut it's around freezing now (9am) but some very mild days and nights mean a lot of mud on the frontlines later in the week in #Ukraine
I know a lot of people miss things at the weekend.
But you can get a quick catch up of all that happened in #Ukraine yesterday by taking a scroll through the previous thread, and I would urge you to do so, some important news and events in there:
1/2 One thing from yesterday I do want to flag up is this story and what will hopefully become a concerted effort to ban athletes from #Russia from the Olympic Games.
#Bakhmut holds, but Commander of #Ukraine's Ground Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, this morning admits the situation is difficult
#Russia tries to advance to the centre and surround the town, but they are suffering heavy losses he says.
So little change, but the pressure is mounting
Speaking of losses, 710 more of #Russia's cattle fodder eliminated on Sunday, according to #Ukraine.
But the stand out figure here is the 16 artillery systems destroyed. That will help protect Ukrainian lives, and that's what it's about. Weapons for Ukraine SAVES LIVES!
Amid reports that the number of #Wagner fighters in #Ukraine has dwindled from 45,000 to 7,500 (unconfirmed), today's British update concentrates on the problems for the mercenaries and its' leader Prigozhin:
Mat G has shared the love this morning and bought me a few coffees! Much obliged to you Mat. Thanks 💙💛
#Ukraine's General Staff reckons #Russia is still recruiting prisoners for the meat grinder
Although #Wagner is no longer able to do so, the Kremlin's regular army may be doing so according to Kyiv, which says trains of convicts are being sent to Donetsk. facebook.com/GeneralStaff.ua
Death and destruction from #Russia's missiles returned to #Mykolaiv region this morning.
Two people are dead after the #Kutsurub community was targeted and residential buildings destroyed.
A 7 year old child is among the injured.
There is a large scale air alert in #Ukraine and some monitoring stations believe cruise missiles may have been launched. No confirmation yet.

Another floating protest in the River Moskva in the capital of #Russia
An activist ensured thousands of passer-by would see #Ukraine's trident, the Tryzub, floating along for quite a while within site of the FSB and Kremlin
No update on this by the way. So fingers crossed it is a false alarm.
I would be very surprised if #Russia has the weapons to launch another multi-missile attack for at least another two weeks (unless Iran/N Korea/China has made a delivery to Moscow).
In #Kharkiv region a Russian soldier has been detained.
He got separated from his fellow invaders during the great retreat from #Kupiansk district in September. Since then the 42 year old has been hiding and living in abandoned buildings.
Good news for the people of #Kyiv and the wider region.
Planned power outages have been scrapped. Engineers have managed to get the city back up to full electricity supply, so "stabilisation outages" are no longer required.
Welcome to another daily thread for Day 384 of #Russia's illegal war on #Ukraine.
In yesterday's thread we heard that the ICC is planning on bringing two war crimes charges against the Kremlin.
If you want to review anything from Monday, it's all here⬇️
Near #Kreminna towards the north of the active frontline in this war, there is an admission from #Ukraine's Command that #Russia has gained a little ground.
They report enemy units moving forward in the forest with the aid of armoured vehicles. #StopRussia
Starting today with the British Intel update. London confirms that #Wagner troops have reached the centre of #Bakhmut. However they explain why #Ukraine is still holding #Russia at bay in the #Donetsk town.
They don't supply a map, so I've added 2 from Google + DeepState to help
There are so many exaggerations, lies & fakes in all wars; I guess these days it's easier, quicker to spread + difficult & time consuming to try to spot fakes.
But here's one. As news of Leopard tanks being deployed by #Ukraine, a crude photoshop of a🇷🇺 chevron on an old photo
Welcome along to Friday's thread covering the war in #Ukraine.
#Russia's illegal invasion continues as do these daily threads. Today is Day 380.
If you're able to support what I do, please buy me a coffee (see bio)💙💛
A lot of fears about the nuclear power plant in #Enerhodar.
An excellent article here (in Ukr but translates well with Google) about the problems experienced by workers at the #Zaporizhzhia plant from the first day of the invasion.
The former General Director of aviation giant Antonov has been arrested by authorities in #Ukraine.
Serhiy Bychkov will be detained for 2 months while investigations continue into several senior Antonov employees obstructing the Armed Forces which tried to save Hostomel airfield
