#LGBTQIA friends affected by Anti-Trans legislation in red states - NY is not a perfect state, but head to #Buffalo. We have a thriving LGBTQIA community. Housing is midrange, w lots of options for older adults & those w special needs. Arts, culture, music, food, sports.

#Jobs in #Buffalo - Mostly education (union), manufacturing (union/midpay), restaurants (low pay) & a large medical corridor. If you work in any medical field - the best-paying option. Unions here, too. #SUNY has some of the best health insurance in the country. #TransRights

For those with kiddos, most districts are fine. Unfortunately, the city of #Buffalo has struggled - a lot - esp since the pandemic, but there are neighboring areas that have good schools and still have city life like Kenmore. Or 10 min away in the Tonawandas. Private too.

Significant white flight and gentrification is a problem in our area, although post-pandemic, the "white suburbs" have been diversifying as city people from #Buffalo & NYC settle in the outskirts of town. Rent is higher than pre-pandemic. Buying a home is difficult.

Affordable options for single rooms near college campuses (University of #Buffalo and Buffalo State have the most housing). Govt programs for elderly, special needs. Southtowns (rural area south of the city) is expensive & conservative - so stick to the city.

We did an upper apt (homes in Buffalo rent one family first floor, other family second floor). It was cramped but what we could afford. For families - excellent pediatricians and pediatric urgent care, lots to do. For #homeschoolers -there is a thriving diverse secular community.

Plenty of room for activism in our area. We could use an influx of incredible progressives, so feel free to head our way. #Buffalo is known for loving our neighbors and our food! LOL. So please, know that you can have a home here where you can be YOU.

15 minutes from Canada. And since the Trump era, the old Underground Railroad has been revived (from the southern border to Niagara county). So also an option for those looking for international asylum (tho they are picky in Canada, but more humane). #TransRightsAreHumanRights

We have kids health insurance here. Community college tuition and some college tuition is free. We aren't at universal healthcare yet, but we got fighters trying to get us there. Marijuana industry is thriving. Unions are strong. Stay safe friends. #TransRightsAreHumanRights

Niagara County (#buffalo is in erie county) also has options, but is not thriving as much as Buffalo & is more conservative. However, it can be a good place to move to immediately, then you can search for something you like better). Hope this is helpful info #TransRights
