Day 439 of the war. #Russia's war on its peaceful neighbour.

That neighbour, #Ukraine, continues to be under attack as Monday 8 May begins.

Here's another daily thread with all you need to know about what's happening.
Catch up on yesterday's news here⬇️
#Kyiv - at the end of yesterday's thread, just before midnight UK time, I showed video of a car on fire after drone wreckage fell on it after being shot down.

Now Mayor of the capital, @Vitaliy_Klychko has confirmed there are injuries, four in total in two different incidents. Image
Two of the injured in #Kyiv have been hospitalised.

Another explosion is reported in the capital now too.

#StopRussia #UkraineUnderAttack
Here's a video clip of a fire in #Kyiv - this may be where the car was hit by debris after the drone was shot down.

#StopRussiaNOW #UkraineUnderAttack
And now a photo of the building in #Kyiv which has been damaged in tonight's drone attack on #Ukraine's capital.

This seems consistent with a falling drone/debris crashing into the building after being hit by air defence.

#RussiaIsATerroristState #UkraineUnderAttack Image
Strong explosion now in #Zaporizhzhia

And why do some western allies think it's fine for #Russia to bomb the crap out of #Ukraine, its infrastructure and its people, and yet say Ukraine must not hit targets in Russia?

This is war. Stand up to bullies. #StandWIthUkraine
#Kyiv - thought to be video of the moment the falling drone crashed into an apartment building in Sviatoshyn district of #Ukraine's capital.

#UkraineUnderAttack #RussiaIsATerroristState
Another view of the drone crashing into a building in #Kyiv.

Censorship still applies under martial law, hence why we get very short or blurred clips only.

#Kyiv update:

The city council says more drone wreckage has fallen on the runway of Zhulyany airport, also known as Sikorsky Kyiv International Airport.

#UkraineUnderAttack #RussiaIsATerroristState
#Odesa/#Odessa

City officials confirm what I wrote earlier that "Kh-22 rockets were directed at warehouses" on the Black Sea Coast. #Ukraine says it belonged to a food enterprise, #Russia says it was a weapons/ammo store.

No word on casualties yet. ImageImageImageImage
Tochka-U missiles believed to be being fired at #Zaporizhzhia from the Occupied areas.
The situation does not look good in #Donetsk where #Wagner and elite troops of #Russia's regular army are making a last ditch bid to capture more of the region before tomorrow's Victory Day "celebrations"

#ChasivYar and #Bakhmut are both under fearsome attack.
This is interesting. Andrey Kovalev is Chairman of the "All-Russian Movement of Entrepreneurs"

Basically a semi-political movement lobbying for business interests in #Russia. He must have deleted this post as it went to far. He was in favour of the war.

#Russia say it hit #Ukraine's soldiers and warehouses (storage) in #Orikhiv.
That's a front-line town in #Zaporizhzhia region.
No comment from Ukraine yet.

The air alarm has now been switched off.
All the air raid warnings in #Ukraine have ended.

The local authority in #Kyiv gave a few more details, explaining in the central district one fire was caused when drone debris damaged a gas pipe. The problem's now been fixed with no interruption to supplies.

Time for sleep!
I've just had a lovely anonymous donation.
Thank you "B" and I think you're right, I am likely to be busy in the next few weeks. 💙💛

I'm not Ukrainian, but you can feel the anger of decades, indeed a century of oppression, lies and murder of #Ukraine's people in this excellent thread.

This is the last tweet in Anna's thread and please do watch this if you can.

Today's figures released by #Ukraine show a fall in equipment losses for #Russia in the last 24 hours.

8 MLRS and 4 Special pieces are the only categories above the daily average for equipment, and though Occupiers' troops deaths are lower, 540 is still above the mean. Image
The graphic says it all, a 100% success rate for #Ukraine's air defenders aiming to hit drones in the overnight attack.

It's now known that 35 "Shahed" killer drones were fired by #Russia towards the capital #Kyiv, and all 35 were hit.
#SlavaUkraini Image

In addition to the drones in #Kyiv, there were more serious missiles fired at #Odesa.

#Russia attacked #Odessa from Tu-22 long-range bombers, firing 8 cruise missiles from over #Crimea. They say some missiles didn't reach their targets.

The fire service released this video

Officials in #Odesa release few other details.

The fire was at the food factory; #Russia says it stored weapons, which may be true. I do know one guard died here.

There were 2 other landing sites which #Ukraine describes only as "the recreation area on the Black Sea coast." Image
Another interesting event in #Odesa (RU: #Odessa) this morning was the first sighting of the Mayor since his latest release on bail after arrest by anti-corruption officers.

Trukhanov laid flowers at the WWII monument to the unknown sailor, where the Eternal Flame burns.
Still in #Odesa, there's criticism at the lack of info regarding the other missile landings, but it's likely sensitive information.

It seems one Kh-22 hit #Dachne just outside the city. Journalists point out that in 2017 news stories were made about the new military accomm there Image
In the capital #Kyiv, it's confirmed that 5 people were injured during the drone attack by #Russia.

Two appear to be more seriously hurt.

Here's video released by #Ukraine of the building in the city which was badly damaged by falling debris.
President Zelenskyy has ruled that in future years in #Ukraine, the symbolic 9 May will be "Europe Day" and no longer a day for honouring the fallen in WWII.

Instead, in another shift west, 8 May will be the day of remembrance and Victory over Nazism, to align with Euro partners
One of the critically injured in last week's massacre in #Kherson has died.

The death of the woman brings the total murdered byu #Russia that day to 24.

The Mayor of #Kyiv has published some more photos from the site of the worst damage from what he says was the biggest attack on the capital since the start of the war.

@Vitaliy_Klychko confirms two casualties are in hospital, one was operated on but no lives are in danger. ImageImageImageImage
In #Odesa, officials confirm the death of a man whose body was found under rubble at the bombing site.

They also say three other people were injured in the missile attack.

#StopRussia
Here's the daily briefing from #London looking again at the recruitment problems for #Russia.

I can also point out that these huge salaries are usually a con. For example in #Chechnya, warlord Kadyrov charges recruits for almost all their equipment, making a nice % himself! Image
#RussiaOnFire

A small🧵within a🧵now on the catastrophic fires in #Russia.

You'd think a place with the name #Asbest would be better equipped than most to deal with fire - and yes the town is named because of the asbestos industry.

But here too there's chaos and tears. ImageImage
2/
While I understand the awful situation for some in #Russia, when I see quotes like this (in E1 news) maybe they should think of #Ukraine

"In the city of grief, how can you not cry here. Everything is on fire, no water, no light. It's never been so bad. What will happen next?"

Wednesday. Day 1302 of the illegal war started by Russia.

For all the fact-checked news about Ukraine, analysis not sugar-coated, and honest appraisals of the situation, trust an expert who isn't here for clicks (if I was I'd post lies & gory videos).

Thanks for being #TeamTim
Yesterday an astonishing report from Yale showing Russia forcing kidnapped kids to work in drone factories, how Croatia may have embarrassed the Putin/ Hungary/Slovakia axis.

Those and many more stories in Tuesday's thread, click here to review:

2-3 weeks ago, Russia started copying Ukraine's attacks on railway infrastructure and is having success.

At night, Ukrzaliznytsia substations were hit, causing power losses firing the rail network.

Over 20 passenger trains were on affected routes, but there are no casualties. Image

Day 1301 of Ukraine fighting for its survival. The right to be free, speak their own language, worship in their own churches, to learn their own history.

A history of long suppression by Russia.
As war crimes grow daily, the words "never again" don't seem to apply.
Here's the🧵
Yesterday began, and ended, with Russia attacking Zaporizhzhia, injuring civilians.

Also, the head of the IAEA disgraced himself in Russia's arms, changes of 🇺🇦army leadership, and how a Russian guy was a Putin opponent, until 3 mins after being elected.

First though a breaking news after a number of morning attacks by Russia, particularly in Kyiv region.

Day 1300 of Putin's war.
Another 100 days of fighting completed.
We are no nearer peace than we were 100 days ago.

Almost 200 days ago Trump demanded a 30-day unconditional ceasefire.
Not surprising as he started it, it's always Putin stopping peace.

Here's Monday's daily🧵
If you were busy over the weekend, click the link to see all Sunday's stories.

It was a day when Ukraine had to quickly repair a main railway line after a massive explosion, but they also managed to make multiple hits on Russia's rail and oil industries

The overnight bombardment from Russia remained lower than usual, although 84 drones and 3 S-300 missiles caused a fair bit of damage on 'soft' targets

With 59 UAVs stopped, that's a 70% success rate.
None of the missiles was intercepted either

The 28 hits occurred in 13 places Image

Day 1299 - the daily thread starts here, covering all things to do with the illegal invasion of Ukraine by its demonic neighbour.

Plenty to catch up on due to the late start today.
So no time to waste, let's go...
Apologies for the much later start than intended, due to a few technical issues, as well as Dad's Taxi being booked for a rescue mission😂

Before we look at today's events, here's the link back to Saturday's thread:

At the end of yday's thread, I wrote about what was a probable Russian strike on Kyiv's railway.

Ukraine's Gen Staff doesn't say it was an attack but admits a "detonation of ammunition on a train carrying military cargo"

Accidents happen, but either way it's a clear blow.

Hello on Day 1298 of Russia's full invasion of its sovereign neighbour. So, only 1295 days late in fulfilling the boast of taking Kyiv in 3 days. #EATP for Putin.

I've compiled a🧵every single day without fail.
You can help my work with a boost, comment, re-post or a coffee🙏
Friday saw more important visitors arrive in Kyiv (and another familiar place is in Ukraine today).

There was more solidarity and practical support, while Russia suffered more oil woes.

If you missed anything, click and scroll here:

I'll start in Odesa, because that's where the familiar face has turned up.

He was planning to return to Ukraine a couple of weeks ago, but couldn't make it, but now Boris is back.
Loved by nearly all Ukrainians, his early arrival (with Lord Ashcroft) meant he avoids the crowds. Image

Hello once again on Friday 12 September 2025.

Day 1297 of Russia's imperialist war, but the senior bully keeps being given a bloody nose by the junior school kid next door. How embarrassing for the "world's second greatest army" and more 'punches' thrown by Ukraine overnight..
There was so much in yesterday's thread.

Russia hitting churches, Ukraine striking a boat.
The US helping Belarus, which helps🇷🇺 & Trump questioning if the drone attack on Poland was a mistake.
Thursday ended with a Ukraine drone surge into Russia:
It was busy at Kyiv's main railway station this morning with two VIP arrivals making unannounced visits.

Prince Harry accepted a request to return to Ukraine saying "we have to keep (the war) at the forefront of people's minds."

Poland's FM @sikorskiradek hopped off soon after Image
