The Canadian state's interest in WWII was to use the war to whip up #nationalism and stamp out #socialist organizing at home, and to defend British #imperialism abroad. The Canadian state was happy to take on a founder of the Nazi Party, Otto #Strasser, as a political advisor. Image
Strasser's plan was to stage a #coup, so that the #Allies could cut a deal with the 'good Nazis.' But Strasser was a fraud, and only reluctantly, when no 'good Nazis' could be found to cut a deal with, did the Allies invade. The cream of the Nazi army was defeated by the #Soviets Image
Immediately after the war, the Canadian state lost whatever aversion they may have had previously to Nazis and fascist #collaborators. With the help of the #Vatican, PM Louis St Laurent personally intervened to bring the Slovak #fascist and war criminal Karol Sidor to Canada. Image
Most critically, the Canadian state admitted tens of thousands of Ukrainian Nazis, former members of OUN / UPA who were hired by companies to put down strikes and violently attack union organizers. Anti-Nazi Ukrainian Canadians were a principal target, and suffered many assaults. ImageImage

One could go on and on. Suffice to say that the Canadian ruling class today has zero qualms about funding and arming outright Nazis in #Ukraine. They try to cover it up with empty phrase-mongering about 'democracy' but it's a fraud.

🧵There is a political split in the petty bourgeois Palestinian leadership, and some elements are desperate to try to cover it up and silence debate about it, using moralizing identity politics to prevent anyone from elaborating a political analysis of it.
Palestinian journalist Motaz has issued a filthy statement blaming Palestinian resistance for Israel's genocidal actions. He has seemingly aligned himself with Fatah, just as the imperialist powers are promoting the quislings of Fatah as 'legitimate' Palestinian leaders.
Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly flew to Israel this week to meet with Netanyahu, and then to Ramallah to be photographed, along with Zionist MP Ya'ara Sacks, with Fatah leader Mahmoud Abbas. Fatah is being prepared by imperialism to suppress the Palestinian resistance.

Imperialism lurches toward escalation because there simply are no more young Ukrainian men to draft into its war against Russia. There was a massive decline in Ukrainian births after the dissolution of the USSR, and most Ukrainian men aged 20 to 35 are either dead, or fled.
Ukraine has a massive surplus - of babushkas, due to WWII and its aftermath. Note the approaching third demographic crisis. The murder by imperialist war of most of the young males now threatens the very existence of Ukrainian people. Image
The Ukrainian population bulge in the graph represents Ukrainians born during the Soviet period. The Soviet Union produced lots of Ukrainians. Capitalist restoration, Ukrainian nationalism and fascism have, when combined, murdered more Ukrainians. Image
