Dear @Davud_Akh,
Today you tweeted about a tourist taking a selfie at Nine Arch Bridge wearing a fish net bikini. You asked locals to call the police if someone is shirtless. Some of us responded.A few hours later I noted that you deleted your tweet. Here's a glimpse of it. 1/ ImageImageImage
After deleting your tweet, you tweeted the following. I replied with the following message. Then I discovered that you had blocked me. Now this is interesting. I gave you a different view & you seem to be intolerant of dissident views. That's a pity.
2/ ImageImage
What is fascinating here is that you say "It seems like everyone is so modern and open minded" & "I will not fight your battles". Are these values offensive to you?I looked you up because I was curious about your background. The internet says you are Azerbaijani from Prague. 3/ Image
I have watched your youtube videos & I find that you have done a lot to promote Sri Lanka. Thank you for that. At the same time I am curious as to why you speak for Sri Lanka as a homogeneous cultural entity? You have travelled widely. Yet you act ignorant about attire. 4/
For example most Tamil men don't cover their upper body in temples. Most Sinhalese paddy farmers wear a loin cloth only in a paddy field. Many Sri Lankan men don't wear a shirt in the countryside. Why should anyone call the police for a shirtless dude? 5/
If you actually lived in the Czech Republic, an EU member state, what inspires you to promote a "Moral police" in Sri Lanka? We already have a draconian PTA that we are trying to repeal. Surely, no Sri Lankan trusts the law enforcement authorities to randomly decide punishment.6/
If you are not aware,Sri Lankan police has been accused of harassing & detaining a British tourist for having a tattoo of the Buddha. She was even deported after the detention.Suggesting to call the police for tourists attire is a dangerous path & sorry you are not helping SL.7/ ImageImage
Yet another British tourist was deported from #SriLanka in 2013 for displaying a Buddha tattoo on the arm. Sri Lanka's law enforcement authorities have taken random decisions to decide what is appropriate to punish tourists in the past. This is insane.

In Feb 2020, a woman was arrested in Sri Lanka for wearing a dress with a print of a ships steering wheel. The law enforcement authorities thought it was the Dharmachakra ☸️ which is a Buddhist symbol. SL's constitution has no basis for such an arrest.

While I genuinely appreciate your youtube videos promoting Sri Lanka, I would like to express my concerns for your call for a "moral police" & inciting people to call the police for someone's attire. This is extremely dangerous as we really don't need anymore violence in SL. 10/
You raised attention to a critical topic though. Railway travel in #srilanka is not safe & trying to take selfies on the "footboard" has caused many fatal accidents. This is something authorities should take into account instead of moral police. 11/
I also noted that you did a Go Fund Me to support Foundation for Goodness in #SriLanka. Well done. Please keep up the good work. My concerns on call for moral police are separate from gratitude to your work promoting Sri Lanka.

Recently you wrote a tweet on Goa. You asked this man if they were cheering for New Zealand. He said "No, for Pakistan". Then you asked "Why?" He said "This is a Muslim area." Did you note the responses to your tweet with a provocative title?
13/ ImageImageImage
The next day the same man had to kneel & apologize. He also had to hold his ears in humiliation to show his shame. As a social media influencer you have a responsibility not to incite hate speech especially in India where partition was sensitive.
14/
The title of your tweet was "This is how Indians support Pakistan in Goa, India". I find this an extremely irresponsible tweet since everyone knows how sensitive this is & it puts this person in danger. Please don't do such things.

@welikalaa I am surprised that you refer to recycling clothes as "trying to make #SriLanka a hippie commune" while living in the West. Aren't you familiar with "thrift stores", "charity shops" and Green philosophy like of @GretaThunberg promoting a less consumerist culture. 1/
@welikalaa @GretaThunberg I live in Belgium & it's completely normal here to share baby clothes & pass on hand me downs. Children grow so quickly. Our kids clothes have been handed down by older cousins sometimes fifth or sixth hand. Our ones have gone further down.Students in now buy in thrift stores. 2/
@welikalaa @GretaThunberg JVP's unsavoury past is another matter. Is it really necessary to mix that & sling mud by calling the promotion of recycling clothes a hippie commune? Disappointed by your comments.Bankrupt #SriLanka should be conscious of recycling clothes as much as the West for the climate.3/

Translation: "In battles with Portuguese, Dutch & English there were Sinhalese who betrayed the Sinhalese. They are the ones who are reborn & are raising black flags now." By Anushka Perera
#racism #Hypocrisy #stupidity

Grateful to Ms Perera for posting. It summarises topics for reflection for #SriLanka. First, she refers to #Sinhalese as the only ones who have a claim on #IndependenceDay.If she would have studied history she would know that Tamils,Muslims,Malays etc were part of this struggle.2/
Her comment already disregards the minorities of #SriLanka. It is such a shame as she lives in London in a multicultural society & speaks of #SriLanka as a mono ethnic society in 2023. After all, Sri Lankans have survived a civil war & Easter attacks to not be divided by race.3/

Thugs are attacking peaceful participants of a non violent civic action #satyagraha in Maradana. Where are the police & military? Gathering by thousands in the area while thugs attack peaceful protesters. Shame on you Ranil!

#SriLanka's police & drunken mobs are attacking peaceful protesters who were sitting with peaceful action #Satyagraha. See lawyer #NuwanBopege with activists. Are the diplomatic missions aware how such a simple peaceful action is being attacke?

Drunken hired thugs are attacking the peace activists of #Satyagraha while police joins. This is state sponsored terrorism & #policebrutality. Tomorrow is #SriLanka's Independence Day.

I agree with @husnipasha. I was just preparing a tweet on the topic. Yesterday I saw this video being distributed on Fb & Twitter to condemn the JVP/NPP. I
was shocked at the hypocrisy of those who distribute it while condemning the use of children for political gain. 1/
First of all, I disagree with the use of a child in this campaign. Those who compare this to @GretaThunberg are wrong. Greta was 15 y/o and she started #FridaysForFuture all by herself. I knew Greta before she became famous. Please don't buy into far right campaigns. 2/
Greta was telling what she believed as a teen with #aspergersSyndrome that we must be consistent & honest with ourselves. If the house is on fire, then we must act as if the house is on fire. She made us realise that we are all bullshitting about the #ClimateCrisis. 3/

This plate contains some hot 🌶green chillies called "kochchi" in 🇱🇰 #SriLanka.
A Sri Lankam student of year 5 (around 10 y/o) gave these chillies to the canteen staff of the school asking if she can get some food in return. 1/
🌶Imagine how many children of 🇱🇰 #SriLanka are malnourished now? 🌶Imagine how desperate this child was for some food?
🌶Imagine how many children skip school because of hunger?
Dear 🇱🇰#SriLanka,
Do you still support these politicians who stole from you and are stealing? 2/
