⚡️In 2014, 75% of Floridians voted OVERWHELMINGLY to pass Amendment 1, AKA the FL Water & Land Conservation Initiative, a state constitutional amendment to allot a projected $21 billion over the 20 years of the measure to buy & preserve land. They approved this:
▶️75% of the voters is 4.2 million people.
▶️When 75% of #Florida voters voted to approve Amendment 1 to the Florida Constitution, they approved "the largest land conservation measure ever approved in a single state."
ℹ️The exact amount of money is “projected” because—according to the amendment that was passed—it was to come from 33% of Florida’s existing excise tax. An Excise tax is a “documentary stamp tax” paid when real estate is sold, typically 70 cents per $100 paid for the property.

It’s official, FL bill HB 631 is now a law and could affect a beach near you even if you don’t live in Florida. Walton County residents were out in droves yesterday (July 1st) to protest this new law, signed by Governor Rick Scott last month.

Just weeks after Rick Scott became Governor, he followed through on a campaign promise to sell the state-owned planes used for past governors, cabinet members and other senior state officials.

Private plane! Rick Scott is rich! No problem. This plan was supposed to save money for the state of #Florida.
⚡️Scott also imposed a new code of ethics: he barred his office employees and agency heads from traveling in private airplanes without prior approval from Scott or his chief of staff. This new code was designed to stop rich lobbyists from courting state officials.

When Rick Scott became Governor in January of 2010, he began a campaign to privatize 30 South Florida prisons and hired Edwin Buss as the Secretary of the Florida Department of Corrections.
“It was one of the most aggressive private prison expansions in the history of the United states, maybe the most aggressive,” Edwin Buss said. While governor, Rick Scott has been through 5 Secretaries of the Florida Department of Corrections (FDOC).
Rick Scott also wanted to privatize the health care services of inmates. He hired Elizabeth Gondles to oversee it, but she had to resign over a conflict of interest: her husband was married to the head of the only organization that accredits prison medical services in the nation.
