Today we remember St Francis of Assisi, patron of animals.
So why not come with us on a St Paul's Safari to mark #WorldAnimalDay.
<thread>
Let’s start close to home with the humble bumble. Where would we bee without these little guys’ hard work?
Geese are a pretty common sight on UK shores, although these ones might want to watch their backs from a scary looking predator!!
But if you want a little more glamour then our peacocks certainly don’t fail to impress.
Our safari really gets going in Africa. Lions everywhere (though one is feeling a little seasick having been sailing with Horatio Nelson)
Want more of the ‘big five’ African animals? Ok, how about a rhino and some elephants.
And let’s not forget our (slightly confused looking) great white shark at the very bottom tip of the continent.
Let’s cross the Atlantic to the Great Plains of America and round up a few buffalo. Or is it a bison? Answers on a post card.
A wonderful bird is the Pelican.
His beak can hold more than his belly can.
This is a hoot! Stick with us…...
Moose, dead ahead!! No worries, our Mountie is onto it.
O, Canada!
Across the Pacific this time to South East Asia and our giant saltwater crocodile. We can’t stay long so let’s make it snappy.
G’day! It’s very hot down under - how on earth does that wallaby stay cool?
And now sadly, a little huia on the shoulder of St Paul - a bird that no longer lives on our planet - last seen in New Zealand 100 years ago
Now it’s time to wrap up warm as we head to the very south and then very north of this great Earth.
Enough of this horsing around. Let's get back to the UK and meet Copenhagen, the Duke of Wellington’s faithful and trusty steed.
And let's finish at the west front of St Paul's with our famous pigeons. Coo!
Hope you all had a good #worldanimalday trip.
