Anyway, the glee's worn off a bit. Here's the problem with the O'Keefe/Washington Post interaction. 1/
James O'Keefe's supporters will never read that Washington Post story or see the video of the Post reporter exposing his operative. 2/
They will watch O'Keefe's bullshit version of what happened or read about it in whatever outlet is sad enough to write it up. 3/
That list is probably the likes of Gateway Pundit and Breitbart. But those websites have huge traffic. 4/
So we'll all laugh about how sad he is. But his fans will stick with him, and so will his donors in all likelihood. 5/
Maybe next time O'Keefe fucks up again. Maybe next time he doesn't. There will be a next time. 6/
He only needs to get lucky once to do immense damage. 7/
And if he manages to avoid shitting himself, even if it's all exaggeration and garbage as usual he'll get broader RW media and even mainstream coverage. 8/
We have a fractured media environment with a self-reinforcing right-wing media bubble backed by major funding. That's a huge problem. 9/
Conservatives up to the president have political and financial incentives to keep their supporters from believing what the media tells them. 10/
They want their followers to believe the likes of O'Keefe instead. And many do. 11/11
