(1) I understand the concern, but people assume investigations aren't already under way, and that Sessions & DOJ are just sitting idle.

Here are a few items that indicate this assumption is wrong.
(2) "The Justice Department's office of the inspector general revealed new details Wednesday about how it discovered the anti-Trump text messages that led to FBI agent Peter Strzok’s removal from Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation."

(4) Let's listen to this segment from the House Judiciary Oversight Hearing w/ Deputy AG Rosenstein on Dec. 13, 2017.
(5) Did you hear that? The Dept. of Justice's OIG report into the 2016 Election & Hillary Clinton Investigation contains 1.2 MILLION DOCUMENTS, to be provided by Jan 15, 2018. They've been working on this for 11+ months.
(6) Considering these items, I'm confident DOJ is investigating activities related to Hillary Clinton, FBI and Department corruption. Sessions and DOJ aren't sitting idle.

Ultimately, I trust Trump. If he feels a change is needed at DOJ, he'll make the change.

(1) I did some reading on Robert Runcie, the Broward County Superintendent. A few days ago, he was the first official to confirm David Hogg was a student at the high school in Parkland, FL.

Turns out... It's a small world after all.

(3) Then I read an article that said Robert Runcie has a brother named James. James Runcie was Chief Operating Officer of the US Department of Education Federal Student Aid until he resigned in May 2017.

Here are my (perhaps unconventional) thoughts on the McCabe departure today. I’m not a TV pundit but I did work @ #DOJ for 18 yrs, 15 of which I was employment counsel for DOJ. McCabe is career SES/not political. They couldn’t remove/fire him unless they all reached agreement. /1
I suspect new General Counsel Dana Boente worked on a settlement agreement over weekend to get McCabe to resign in return for McCabe getting to use paid administrative leave + benefits so that he won’t take financial hit. McCabe would have agreed to stop work & depart early. /2
It is not unusual to reach this type of agreement with an employee you need to get out of the office. Although usually the employee would be a poor performer and usually you couldn’t pay him for not working for more than 10 days per DOJ policy. Firing McCabe would be illegal. /3

The assumption "bug collisions are so common in all software that everyone should assume that for any bug disclosed, it's probably been found by attackers & exploited already" contrasts how scientific research works. Security research is no exception.
Bug & research "collisions" can happen due to lots of low-hanging fruit. It can also occur when researchers pay attention to reach other's work. I've discussed researcher "swarming" for years, & recently on stage at BlackHat this summer.
Bug collision or correlation rates for software that has a lot of bugs (bug dense, say, because of not being well-tested) will generally model higher bug collision rates than in software with low bug density. See slides #23-27 from my RSA talk in 2015.
