Wearing the भगवा and rocking it
#NewProfilePic #ProfilePicUpdate

p.s. There is an interesting story behind the #bhagva scarf
So one of my juniors who is an intern wanted to attend the OPD where I usually see the patients. I allowed her and even taught her few basics. She came with a burqa everyday. My usual OPD turned into a communal consultation room. (1/n)
I always had the same compassion towards my patients regardless of their religion. Now most of my burqa wearing patients wanted to consult only the burqa wearing doctor sitting across the table, despite of that being MY consultation room. (2/n)
No matter how sick or lethargic a baby was, the burqa ladden mother only wanted to go to burqa wearing doctor. Who by experience wasn't competent enough to treat a gravely I'll toddler.
The chaos increased. The burqa wearing visitors increased in numbers within a week (3/n)
I would hopelessly look at a queue of 10 black burqa ladden women, carrying their children with colorful burqas across the table.. while my junior zestfully wrote WRONG dosages. I would just patiently keep correcting her to make sure the child received correct treatment (4/n)
The most disturbing part was that suddenly most of my 'regular' patients who have visited me since months had suddenly disappeared! Going to work felt like going to cold communal war (5/n)
The solution:
1. I got the junior officially recruited in the hospital, so that she signs her prescriptions and takes the responsibility for her work.
2. I started to wear a scarf depicting my faith every single day to work (6/n)
After implementing the above said things, I stopped altering the prescriptions for her. She was happy (read: inflated ego) for being in demand.. till a child died within a week (the casualty was a burqa laden child who wanted THAT doctor only)
7/n
She left the job. I continued the scarf.
& chaos resolved.
No skullcap/burqa wearing person asks me my name, to know my faith. I wear it around my neck. The extremists hv disappeared. The regular patients are back. The balance is restored.

The bhagva scarf will continue😊 (n/n)
Clarifications:
1. The child didn't die because of negligence or ego. The junior doctor requested seniors to take charge, however the parents DENIED because no other doctor was a muslim. When other patients are requested to be checked by seniors, they agree.. this one did NOT.
2. Regarding her job
She was technically an intern (her paperwork of completion was in process). She came to learn, under my name. She got her degree (within a month) & then filled the recruitment form. She joined based on her qualification & preferences. We continued to help her
3. Please understand the everyday life of a doctor where they have to be neutral in am environment which is filled with bigotry.
The whole 'brotherhood' scenerio is so prevalent that it can take lives!
I hope people wake up without someone having to wear a #BhagwaScarf
