I have a story to tell:
Over a year ago, Francesca's, Express (!!!), OK Originals, and Orion Fashions started selling copies of a bunch of artists' pins.

Without our permission.

Rebranded as *their* products. #pinfringement
when i (and others. likely you) contacted them to take responsibility for their actions, they avoided our calls and letters.

and i got blocked. did you?

but we rallied, got legal representation, and filed suit.(artsy.net/article/artsy-…)

but wait: THERE'S MORE. just wait.
the infringers (Francesca's, Express, OK Originals, and Orion Fashions) actually tried to get the court to dismiss our case & argued to strip us of our creative rights to our own work. They said the artwork THEY COPIED FROM US was "basic, unoriginal" and "lacked creativity".
guess what?

"Basic" and "unoriginal" giant retailers systematically copied 12 independent artists' designs, and violate the DMCA by intentionally stripping designs of their owners' copyrights.

Their move to dismiss our case kiiiinda backfired.
Because the judge sided with us repeatedly, moving the case forward on every point that matters.

These decisions are already a huge win for ALL independent artists!!

Me and you.

Here's why:
The judge's decision sets a powerful legal precedent that future artists can use! Thanks to the DMCA (what we already use to take down unauthorized copies of our work from websites like Etsy and Facebook!)

Basically, this says if you put your name and/or other identifying information on your work (as we did), and someone removes that (as they did), they broke the law. And if they put their own name or other branding on copies (they did), they broke the law AGAIN. #basic
This decision is a huge win for artists like me!!! It clarifies another way that the DMCA can help artists in future legal battles when their work is copied by #basic #unoriginal corporations as mine was. (more: instagram.com/p/BI4MeOnDVx5/…)
Guess what else? It's now on record that this case is against "known infringer" / "known distributors of knockoff and copycat goods".

Because our judge affirmed this language!!!

OK let's take a quick look at the timeline here.

On Jan. 31, 2013, this notice appeared on the Fed. Prosecutor for NJ's website:

One GREGORY CICCIONE was indicted for defrauding 17 charities out of more than $267,000 & causing $750,000 in losses.
From Oct. 2006 to April 2010, Ciccone approached 17 different charities & talked them into handing him $ to set up fund raising events where prizes he claimed he could deliver were raffled to donors.

When the charities had to give the $ back, they suffered $750k in losses.
As part of his punishment for having committed these crimes, Ciccone agreed to pay back the $267,000 he took from these charities in up front payments for prizes he never had the ability to deliver.

Now, how inept & dumb is this guy? With the FBI looking at him, he does THIS:

Over a year ago we were filming for around 30 hours, I was trying to keep myself awake reading yoonmin fics. It was 5am when we had to pack the equipment, and when I was in the bus I thought finally I’m going to sleep, but then I refreshed the page and this fic was first on it
It was the update for the first chapter, and I read the prologue and then the update and suddenly I couldn’t sleep. I was incredibly tired, we had worked all day and night, but when you find something that seems made for you it doesn’t matter because I only wanted to read more

Over a year ago, "beatmastrJ" started to post photos in the DIY section of the Something Awful forums. Here was the bathroom as it was and a sketch of the plan.
Upgrades included new lighting and electrical plus a medicine cabinet. There is a lack of GFCI here but it isn't the worst thing.

2/ Long story short: I showed in four late 2016/early 2017 articles in The Huffington Post that the NYC field office of the FBI deliberately ignored Comey's orders in the Clinton investigation in a way that forced him to "re-open" the Clinton probe, giving the election to Trump.
3/ While agents in "Trumplandia"—what the NYC field office of the FBI was called due to its militant pro-Trump faction—sat on evidence they were supposed to be analyzing, they were leaking information to Rudy Giuliani to help Trump's team initiate a pressure campaign on Comey.
