Slowly but surely my Facebook newsfeed is declining. A mix of ads, “viral content”, and people I don’t know well have taken over my feed. Facebook is no longer the first app I check when opening my phone.
On the plus side Oculus Go is pretty neat... and Whatapp is essential to my work and social life. Still - where did all my Facebook friends go?
Interestingly - Google is still a central player in my life. Even as an iPhone user Google Search, Docs, Gmail, and Maps are critical every single day.
I’ve always been a huge Facebook fan since joining back in 2005. I hope this is just a sign of me getting older. (Btw - my wife says everyone is on Instagram now. I’m just not into sharing photos.)
PS: re Google - YouTube is also still going strong. My daily usage has trended up over the past 5 years. Impressive!

When I talk to founders often I am very very direct and that can come off as inconsiderate. This is not my intention...
When I first came out to the valley I asked a lot of people for advice on how to make my startup great. What I got was a lot of luke warm, overly nice, and not very useful guidance. (YC was the exception)
I think the reason why was that I often asked investors for advice and they have mixed motivations. They never want to burn a bridge that can prevent them for getting access to a good investment...

Investors in YC companies please remember. When you make extremely non-standard complicated requests, waste founder time, don’t follow handshake deals, take forever to wire money, or otherwise screw around with a YC company during fundraising the following happens:
1) YC Partners are told immediately (we have a WhatsApp group with every single company)
2) It’s written up in the YC investor database for future YC founders to read

Happy to oblige! The biggest reason that a few frameworks dominate the landscape is probably straightforward inertia. Most devs (those of use who chat about this stuff on Twitter are NOT representative) don't want to investigate and learn alternatives; they have better things 1/
to do, and engineering PMs aren't picking the 'best' technology, they're picking the safe one that means they'll be able to hire some poor sap to maintain everything a couple of years down the line. Nobody ever got fired for buying IBM. These dynamics favour incumbents. 2/
So does the cacophony of options. Why do tech meetups always serve pepperoni pizza, even though almost no-one would actually *choose* it given alternatives? Because it's something that very few people will object to. It gets the job done — it's 'good enough'. 3/

Sugar daddy au with a twist where Yoongi is a producer just starting out, and while he's happy he took the risk, he's struggling to make ends meet, often having to rely on his friends for help. They really don't mind since it's never anything much, food mostly, and they love him.
But Yoongi's unhappy with it, doesn't like mooching off his friends, so one night when he's been sulky after having to share Hoseok's dinner instead of buying his own again, Hobi's trying to cheer him up and jokes about how Yoongi should just become a sugar baby.
And Yoongi laughs, because that's ridiculous, he doesn't feel comfortable sharing his body for money and honestly would prefer to be the daddy if he had the money to do something like that anyway.

I've been going to cons as a vendor or attendee for 20+ years. Cons have changed a lot, but the biggest change is NOT what most people always point out... that media has taken over the Con. That's true, but the big change is in the people who go, and why they are there. 2/18
Con attendees are not the day-in, day-out comic buyer. Con attendees are by and large more casual fans of the actual books, even though the cosplay may trick you into thinking they are "super fans". They are "super-fans", but of the idea of comics far more than the titles. 3/18
