Wings Over Scotland has once again misrepresented me knowing full well that such blogs can result in, at the very least, social media dogpiling. His blog is full or errors. We need to address these. Thread. wingsoverscotland.com/the-new-world-…
1. Wings says he is a media monitor. He claims I am the chief reporter of The Sunday Herald. This is incorrect, as even a cursory familiarity with Scottish news media would reveal.
2. Wings cites people who are angry because I have blocked them. I do block those who make false claims of misconduct, are abusive or spread Putin disinformation. I don't keep most of these people blocked for long but this is a work space and we journalists often need respite.
3. Wings falsely claims I think all Yes supporters are Trumpist loonies. This is an obvious misrepresentation. I do have concerns, better expressed by Sunday Herald editor Neil Mackay, about a fringe of Yessers adopting Trumpist narratives. I believe Wings is part of that fringe. 
4. Wings has repeatedly and falsely claimed that I have said he is a MI5 plant. I have several times said he is counter-productive and no joked defacto ally of the British state. I don't think he works for M15.
5. Wings has repeatedly and falsely claimed that I have suggested he is a Russian stooge. Wings does repeat Putin propaganda and has endorsed Russia as a democracy and RT as the equivalent of the BBC. That does not make him a Russian stooge etc.
6. Wings has repeated cast doubts on my mental health, the basis being his false claims that I have said he works for both the Kremlin and Westminster. He does so again today.
7. As it happens I have been linked with GCHQ. in a defamatory and vexatious blogpost. I do a lot of work about former Soviet issues. This false claim is both dangerous and irresponsible. randompublicjournal.com/2018/04/16/an-…
8. Wings also makes false claims against other Herald and Times staff, including our football editor. He falsely states our football editor threatened him with violence even citing a Twitter exchange in which there are no threats. wingsoverscotland.com/the-new-world-…
9. Wings also falsely names Paul Hutcheon and Tom Gordon as being Sunday Herald political reporters. Paul is Investigations editor and works across titles. Tom does not work for The Sunday Herald. He has had no bylines in the paper this year. (I have had three).
10. Wings falsely claims a former political editor of the Sunday Herald works for the UK Govt. I assume this is a reference to The Herald's much-missed former political editor, Magnus Gardham, who does not work for the govt.
11. There is far too much nonsense in Wings blogs to "fisk" every detail and I have tried to restrict myself to false claims about me. Suffice to say, however, that if you can't check where reporters work, your credibility as a "media monitor" is, sorry, not high.
12 Wings and his ilk have firmly focused their attacks on media outlets that either support independence or give substantial platforms to independence supporters, both in MSM and new media. At some point, somebody should ask him why that is. This thread is my private take. Thanks
Correction. False negative i earlier tweet. Should read. I assume this is a reference to The Herald's much-missed former political editor, Magnus Gardham, who works for the govt. Magnus never worked for the Sunday Herald.
