Last month, many of us @mgh_id @bwh_id @BIDMC_IDFellows + @MassDPH came together to care for 3 patients with #monkeypox in Massachusetts and used #tecovirimat for the first time in the state. I'm excited to share our experience in @OFIDJournal.

A brief 🧵academic.oup.com/ofid/advance-a… Key takeaways:

▶️ #tecovirimat was well-tolerated
▶️ our patients (acknowledging limitations of a 3-patient observational study) felt it improved their symptoms and paused progression of early lesions
▶️ the process of obtaining and using #Tpoxx was unnecessarily cumbersome

Despite the lack of national leadership in #COVID19, I've been inspired by working with researchers like @SaraSuliman13 and @drlouiseivers. Our team just got support from @MALifeSciences for our work evaluating #SARSCoV2 rapid tests in @CityofHolyoke.

mass.gov/news/baker-pol… 2/#COVID rapid tests that are fast, cheap and can be used by individuals at home or on the go will be a key part of the toolkit that gets us out of this #pandemic.

This great post by @PaulSaxMD explains how.

I'm a #LatinX physician, taking care of #LatinX patients with #COVID19.

I've been so surprised at how people are surprised by data showing #COVID19 is disproportionately affecting marginalized communities that till now I didn't know how to respond.

Some thoughts:

2/The implications of these #disparities run far deeper than simple differences in rates of morbidity and mortality. I applaud all of those shedding light on these #inequities, but we need action, and we need it now. @valstonemd @drlouiseivers #COVID19 #SDOH
