Why isn't aircraft & military twitter lit about Israeli RA-01 stealth ISR platform we now know for sure of ?
Also, not much into Israeli stuff but this their home ? (built around the time first reports of Israeli stealthy long range ISR platform came out in the early 2010s) Image This area is the only one I could find in the Ramon airbase that fits the US intel description of it, but hangar sizes suggest a fairly small aircraft not much bigger than the Beast of Kandahar (RQ-170)

Why the Ukrainian attack on the Voronezh-DM Radar in Armavir makes a lot of sense ?!
Well, it ain’t going to be short so stay with me… 🧵

(1/50) There are at least 3 main reasons why and I’’ll try to lay them out as clearly as possible since there has been a ton terrible reporting and even worst takes on the event. (2/50)

A little (sort of) dive into the “Baltic jammer” case, bringing what is IMO by far the most plausible theory explaining the phenomenon (NOTE: I am no GNNS expert) and drawing some fast conclusions from it. So, first the basics, GNSS stands for Global Navigation Satellite System and is a broad term used to describe the function of multiple systems. Among such systems the biggest and most popular ones are GPS (from US), Galileo (Europe), GLONASS (Russia) and BeiDou (China).

Thanks to this picture taken while USS Carney was transiting Suez on 18/10/2023 and the shadows visible we can extrapolate her path, spot her on Sentinel-2 and have a rough area for the interception. We don't know the time it happened so area is broad. (Short 🧵)

Image The approximate location altho tells us that it was rather far from Yemen ruling out the possibility that the missiles where intended for the US warship (as Houthis would have no targeting capability at that range save from some very, very, crafty scenario)

Seeing some confusion online about the Neptune missile launch picture published today by @pravda_eng allegedly showing the missile that hit Russian Cruiser Moskva.
Some are saying that picture is old and from initial tests... Nope.
Fast 🧵 Here a well know picture from the Neptune missile tests, you can find a few but all have one thing in common, the missiles are painted orange. This makes sense for test items, the color helps both with tracking and to differentiate test items from operational ones Image

Fascinating read reach of new details well worth your time on the sinking of the Russian Black Sea fleet flagship Moskva. (auto translation does a very decent job with it) pravda.com.ua/articles/2022/…
#Russia #Ukraine
Among the interesting details 🧵: - President Zelensky himself pushed for the project to be completed and fund it
- First operational missiles left the factory just days before the conflict begun. Factory was hit immediately but missiles had already left

Some fast notes on the Iran - Russia drone deal that is making the rounds. Seen way more people than I expected to being surprised, so:
1) "Hundreds" of drones are mentioned, this plausibly means mostly the "small" stuff, loitering munitions/suicide drones and small recon drones 2)Especially for the small stuff, Russia (but most western powers too) lags way behind current tech, they have been fielding and losing a lot of their Orlan-10 / 30 toys, and we have seen from the wreckages that they are mostly based on western components. They can't build more.

Must be the seasons because the article is a case study in cherry picking... Reach the article and download the source PDF from UN with the full report, it reports of mass rapes, executions, targeting of medical facilities and a plethora of other crimes by Russian forces.
1/5 Yet... The "article", horribly written and confusing, focuses on one case in which even UN can't call it a war crime as the nursing home in question held a strategic position very relevant to the war effort.
2/5

A thread on small drones jamming and apparent lack of it in current #UkraineRussiaWar
Will simplify a lot things to give a general idea of what is going (or not going) on.
#Ukraine #russia We have been seeing a lot of HQ videos from what appear to be commercial drones in this conflict, even being used clearly for combat purposes (as artillery spotting etc). It comes natural to ask how is this possible especially given the assumed technology of #Russia military.

With ECLIPSE transiting Gibraltar I'm getting tons of messages regarding her being seized while at sea.
Well, its called piracy and its a crime as per UNCLOS (United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea) or more generally, International Law.
Fast thread 🧵 Vessels in international waters cannot be attacked, inspected, seized etc. Same applies to vessels transiting straits (as Gibraltar), in which case even if technically inside the "territorial waters" of a country, they are protected by UNCLOS.

One aspect of the current conflict in #Ukraine which isn't being (publicly) discussed much is DIY or locally developed "drones" usage for advanced warfare.
I wrote this a while ago exploring the current and near future possibilities of "DIY drone warfare" osinteditor.com/researches/ope… Its easy to assume that Ukraine is well beyond the "DIY" level described in the article, which while covering different scenarios should give a general idea of the possibilities available today.

All UK Defence Intelligence maps since the start of the war in #Ukraine in a practical animation to show the progress (and/or lack of) of #Russia invasion. Will try to make it daily and improve it in next versions.
Also... Dear UK DI map guy... I love you as this maps are a great resource but I also hate you profoundly... Why each single map has a slightly different scale (not even proportional) and layout ?!?

Here some of the most famous Russian oligarchs yachts and their current (22/2/2022) location around the world.
Many are in western waters where, according to the owner ties to Putin, might/should be seized...

Being a good sanctions candidate, hope the departure can be halted...

Interesting topic with multiple faces to it.
First the types of content:
1) people posting to social media videos / images / text about armaments.
2) "analysts" professional and amateur which extrapolate data from open sources (otpcial sat, sar, radio data, ais, adsb, etc)
🧵 3) accounts very good at discovering what is posted by point 1 & 2 people and repost/amplify it, basically being an OSINT powered news service (@ELINTNews is a great example)

Pertaining to "helping" Ukraine, its the 1 & 2 people who can represent a real problem, especially 1

Zelensky had to be extremely cautious with words (and actions),passionately letting out the rage he and most Ukrainians must be feeling would just serve Putin internal propaganda further "justifying" RU future actions.
🧵 He is making it so that whatever Russia does next will solely be on Putin and his pre-determined plan (as opposed to have him "react" to Ukraine actions). Ukraine can't win a war but can work hard to gather all possible international support

#Belarus has a relatively extensive network of cameras to monitor traffic and weather on the road network.
Well...
The huge majority of them stopped updating in the span of 3 hours in the morning of February 19... All basically at the same time. #opsec ?

Sentinel-1 data suggests that #Russia has a new toy which has tested/activated somewhere near Rostov-on-Don.
Still hard to pinpoint the source, but the interferences recorded by the C-SAR satellites are among the strongest ever detected and have a unique pattern.
#OSINT The rather unique pattern, the strength and a the interference affecting strongly both Sentinel-1 polarisations suggests something rather different than any previously detected assets (with this technique at least).
Could be many things, ranging from a Radar to a new EW asset.

Been nerding out on the bullet trajectories simulation from the scene of recent Mohsen Fakhrizadeh assassination in #Iran, more soon, but in the meantime, the result of processing over 1 million possible bullet trajectories shows few possible firing position (red spheres) #OSINT New results in
-5 clear in and out holes visible
-120 possible in-out holes associations
-2.1 million trajectories computed (6° vertical max deviation, +-3° horizontal)
-relevant area divided into 1.2 million 0,4meters voxels to test.
- 1 ONLY possible fire position (red sphere)
