The @January6thCmte laid out that not only did Trump lose – he knew it. He lied about it.
And he used it as an excuse to promote a criminal conspiracy to overturn the election.
CNN’s @thelauracoates: “They have laid out the basic tenets of establishing defrauding the government of the United States. Trying to stop an electoral college certification by deceit and corrupt means.”

Fifteen states with 38,000,000 residents elect 30 senators.
California with 40,000,000 residents elects 2 senators.
By 2040, 70% of the country will be represented by 30 senators. The remaining 30% whiter and older population will be represented by 70 senators.
It’s undemocratic, and it’s wrong.

An Arizona Republican lawmaker on the wave of voter suppression laws his party is passing across the country (including in Arizona):
"Quantity is important, but we have to look at the quality of votes, as well."
The laws that the GOP is passing nationwide are designed to restrict the access for Black and brown voters.
By quality of voters he means he only wants white people to vote.

D.C. must become the 51st state, and you should care about fighting for it even if you don’t live there. Here’s why and what you can do for #DCStatehood 🧵
For more than 200 years, Washingtonians have had zero voting representation in Congress. D.C.'s mostly Black and brown residents have long been subjected to systemic inequality and denied the full rights of citizenship.

The Voting Rights Act was passed in 1965 in an effort to end the widespread and systematic disenfranchisement of Black voters across the United States.
It was extremely effective.
But in 2013, the Supreme Court gutted it. 🧵
In a 5-4 decision in a case called Shelby County v. Holder, the Supreme Court decided that key protections granted in the #VRA were no longer needed, in part because the VRA had so effectively reduced voter disenfranchisement

SOME BACKGROUND ON STONE: How did he get involved in all of this?
He’s been a friend of Trump’s since the 1980s, when he first tried to persuade Trump to run for president. In 2016, he finally got his wish, serving as an outside adviser and self-described "dirty trickster."
During the campaign, Stone communicated with the two organizations Putin used to alter and leak stolen emails from Clinton and other Dems: Russian Intelligence and Wikileaks.
Stone wrote to Julian Assange during the campaign to request specific stolen emails not yet made public.

Today will go down in infamy.
Donald Trump, the president of the United States, has been implicated as an unindicted co-conspirator in a crime.
The walls are closing in: 1. He has been personally implicated in a crime. 2. His campaign has been exposed as a criminal enterprise.
It can’t be overstated how significant this is to happen to a sitting United States president. This hasn’t happened since Nixon before he resigned.
Trump stands accused of directing an illegal conspiracy to benefit his campaign and influence the election.

The progress the investigation has made proves it must continue.
In just one year, the investigation has moved faster and made more progress than similar past investigations. It is finding crimes. It is opening even more troubling questions than those we had when the investigation began. Nearly every day, new damning evidence is revealed.
