then this πŸ‘‡
seems an odd way for Alex Wickham to go about being Johnson's stooge as not exactly complementary
but neither does it damn him, so maybe

It was written pre-pandemic & drops Cummings in it, which would've peeved him, obv

FTR this is the text of the Lord's Amendment 45 to the Environment Bill regarding sewage discharge from storm overflows which 268 Tory MPs from Johnson's Government voted against.
Lords Amendment 45 would've placed a new duty on sewerage undertakers in England and Wales to make improvements to their sewerage systems and demonstrate progressive reductions in the harm caused by discharges of untreated sewage
It would also require the Secretary of State, the Director of Ofwat (the economic regulator) and the Environment Agency to ensure compliance with the duty
through the exercise of their respective functions

UK Government getting on with the job
"Getting on with the job" is the new "Brexit means Brexit" btw icymi

Latest hypnotic mantra from the UK Government

#IngCon #GaslitNation
In typical Team Johnson style, UK government spent all of CPC21 going on about how they were "getting on with the job" and then their Golden Leader straightaway sodded off to Spain on his hols courtesy of a friend he put in a high place πŸ™„
leaving the country in 🀬 chaos

I love the way the Conservatives made this honest @AngelaRayner #SameOldLabour meme πŸ†

Nice of them to let their followers know that she just can't help telling the truth about the Tories πŸ‘

#ToriesDontCare
@AngelaRayner Anyone who might be shocked to hear Angela Rayner is unable to stop herself calling Boris Johnson's Tories "Scum" would never vote Tory anyway.

Carry the idea direct to the former Labour voters who won't see it as a shocking use of slang

They'll just get the message #ToryScum
Almost admire the brass neck of the Tories, to go through #CPC21 & onwards with the line that they are "getting on with the job"
& then have Boris Johnson sod off to Marbella to put his trotters up πŸ™„ while the the crises, corpses & cases mount up back in Blighty.

Just heard a representative of the steel industry on the radio saying that their gas price has gone from 40p last year to over £4 per therm last week😱

If only we'd had 4 🀬yrs notice that reduced gas storage capability would result in price hikes πŸ™„reuters.com/article/us-bri…
"the Rough facility accounts for about 70 percent of UK storage capacity and a lack of new-build to replace it will increase dependency on imports over the next few years, boosting wholesale gas market volatility and prices, analysts and traders said."
"The effects could be compounded by potential changes to energy supply terms with EU countries if Britain leaves the internal energy market when it quits the European Union"

This was a political choice for Boris Johnson's Brexit

OK, I do say that Boris Johnson is a liar and a cheat and he smells of poo

#BREXSHIT
I note with frustration that although I stepped back from Brexit once it finally happened, next up came the Coronavirus pandemic, which sucked me back into giving a shit online & trying to stop the misinformation & disinfo

Made a whole new load of friends who felt the same duty
But still got sucked in to the virtual world all the time instead of being present IRL

Lost so much time I long for, just being a good mum & friend to my folk
Working hard at the library to help students get set with the tools for learning

Government responded to β€œ#KeepTheUplift” petition

"The Government always intended the Β£20 per week increase to be a temporary measure... It will not be incorporated permanently into the standard rate.

This Government is wholly committed to supporting those on low incomes "πŸ™„
"with restrictions eased and we are ramping up our recovery, the Government is rightly shifting its focus to supporting people to move into & progress in work as quickly as possible."

That is no use to people who need help now.
Jam tomorrow, but never jam today. #KeepTheUplift

I made this last night because I had so many photos of #BrexitFoodShortages from yesterday's trip to the supermarket.
It's a bit shit, so very Brexit.
Needs a jaunty soundtrack
Things can only get worse...
I've been keeping notes on #BrexitFoodShortages for the past month or so.
Up until now this Sainsburys store has regular gaps but a low footfall in the 2 months since EUSS locked in.

In 2 weeks time it needs to help feed 10Ks students too.

I'm concerned

Are we just ignoring the Brexit food price increases that accompany the gaps #BrexitFoodShortages?

My elder neighbour likes sardines in sunflower oil once a week
Last wk I could buy her a can for 40p
Yesterday it cost Β£1.35
