The trend of slightly lower losses for #Russia continued yesterday. The data released by #Kyiv today show 430 more dead invaders and 5 more drones, but nothing especially noteworthy in the figures.

Tomorrow may be slightly higher after a number of hits reported on Russian bases.

Britain's daily update highlights a dilemma facing #Russia, while also confirming the hurried extra defensive actions taken to protect the northern "border" of occupied #Zaporizhzhia.

It's a morning of cleaning up in many parts of #Ukraine after the attacks in many regions by #Russia's illegal invading forces.

In #Zaporizhzhia casualties and damage are still being "quantified" after local officials report the use of cluster munitions on the city's outskirts.

But one of the suspected hits on #Russia's forces also came in #Zaporizhzhia oblast.

At the Hydromash plant in #Melitopol' the sounds of explosions and the roar of the fire was heard for "several hours" by locals.

Smoke is still visible this morning.

Following the incendiary munitions used on #Kherson (video in yesterday's thread), locals have been collecting evidence from the streets of the city which was liberated just under 2 months ago.

Last night I also reported on a fire at a transformer substation in #Kursk region. Some doubted the photo evidence of the strike inside #Russia, so now here's a video.
It's from #Mokva about 100 miles/160km from the border with #Ukraine.

#Kherson is under attack again this morning.

Refrigerated trains are arriving in #Russia full of bodies of dead soldiers.

This is the claim from #Ukraine's Defence Staff, reported here by Ukrainskyi Pravda, which reports on the journey from Rostov to Kemerovo.

#Kramatorsk - last night I wrote about locals describing 8 missiles landing in the #Donetsk town.

That's now verified by the Mayor, Oleksandr Honcharenko who released these photos.

He says 2 educational institutions and 8 apartment blocks were damaged, but no civilian injuries.

After #Ukraine held a Christmas Service in Ukrainian in #Kyiv's Lavra for first time, the reaction of Moscow's Patriarch Kirill is hate-filled.

"They are carrying out an evil, diabolical will, destroying Orthodoxy on Kievan soil."
He said Ukraine govt + church will "soon change"

#Russia now claims this explosion at a gas pipeline in the occupied #Luhansk region of #Ukraine, is sabotage.

A local official suggests "sleeper cells of the Ukraine's Army attracted local residents" for the attack.

Although many here want independence, and #Russia brutally put down a 1999 uprising, this does seem likely to be a gas explosion as local officials report.

Fire ravaged the "Double Joy" cafe in the town of #Nyagan in the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug.

No reason to think this is suspicious.

#Ukraine's air defence says it has shot down another Russian helicopter today.

They don't say where the downing of the Ka-52 happened, but the "central" team was mentioned.
Earlier the "east" command downed one of #Russia's reconnaissance drones over #Dnipropetrovsk region.

#Russia's daily briefing earlier said they killed 600 #Ukraine soldiers in the attack on #Kramatorsk.

The MoD in Kyiv has strongly denied the claims.

It seems Russia simply picked a number slightly higher than its losses in #Makiivka, especially as it said it was retribution.

It's reported that #Russia shot dead 6 of its soldiers who were going to surrender in #Zaporizhzhia oblast.

#Ukrine's General Staff reports the incident, which it says happened 3 days ago near Chistopilla.

In #Barnaul, some 3,300km from #Moscow, this fire is said to be next to the the local FSB Headquarters.

This is not yet confirmed - city officials and emergency services have made no statement, which in itself is unusual.
