1. @ceo_uidai claimed in the SC, that auth. failures happen because of Vested Interests.

The implication is that there are people out there to make Aadhaar fail, but the reality is @UIDAI's enrollment software is the *reason* for failures. Explanation follows:
2. Authentication is basically a comparison b/w two templates. So Quality of the capture is *very* important for biometric authentication success. Higher quality capture > 90% is how you get 98%+ success rates in the lab. So if you lower quality of capture, you get auth failures.
3. Below 90%, every percentage drop in quality of capture, worsens auth. success significantly. What then is the minimum quality threshold that Enrollment software clears *your enrollment*? Hold your breath - It is 52% for Fingerprints and 50% for IRIS capture.
4. This is why IRIS authentication fails at a bigger scale than FP authentication at the field. it is unheard of anywhere in the world. Why is 50% minimum quality on IRIS is the reason?
5. Trying to focus a camera on a curved surface moving with a massive degree of freedom in an attempt to equal whatever it was the first time during registration is extremely extremely difficult. It is why they take several minutes to grab a useable image.
6. Reduce the quality - a combo of focus, position, lighting and resolution and you are truly dead. Shining a light into your eyes adds to the screw-up. Now multiply all this by 100 for pensioners.
7. Compensating for that high degree of difficulty during auth. is what makes spoofing with a decent iris photo so trivial. Despite such compensation the failures are very high and can be used only in very low flow rates. Btw micro twitching of eyes is utterly common and natural
8. So what these guys have done is to choose two parameters (52% for FP and 50% for IRIS) to maximize enrollment so that they can claim that "Enrollment is higher". Who cares if authentication does not work later? There is always a vested interest, to blame, right?
9. The solution they claim is re-enrollment. But it is the same enrollment software again for updating biometrics. So this keeps repeating again and again in few months. UIDAI is so incompetent, that they don't *even know the root cause* because ECMP is developed by HCL.
10. So here Aadhaar act says, "Entitled". But Software is coded in such a way to fail the entitlement. So "Code" is not just Law. Code is greater than Law. (CC @prasanna_s). But SC can't deal with this because they still think Law is supreme. Ha Ha Ha.
11. So in effect, if you want to undermine legal systems, roll out a technology product that undermines them, and cite copyright protection etc. etc. to hide it. And no one would know. This is why you need code audits for public software because Code > Law.
12. If Code > Law, then whoever controls the code, becomes even more superior than the courts and Parliament. Just like laws need to be debated, code needs to be debated and reviewed. Otherwise the entire notion of courts and legal system is basically dead.
