Charles Krauthammer died today. Everything that's said about his towering intellect and precision writing is true. And those are wonderful things. But he was so much more than that. And I miss him terribly.
Absolutely hilarious. Extremely charming. Kind but not in a fake way. In fact, he could be deliciously cutting against those he held in low regard. Generous with advice, which is not nothing for younger journalists and pundits.
The news of his death broke on @SpecialReport tonight. As horrible of news as it was, I'm glad the news broke on that show which he was such a major part of for so long. His presence looms large there, and has been strong even during his absence. It will continue.
I consider it a great honor that I got to know him, much less become friends with such a great man. I'm honored to even have had a chance to discuss him and what he meant to me on tonight's @SpecialReport. And I'm simply not ready for life without him.
