Today's @RNBreakfast #ThamLuang #ThaiCaveRescue radio report, in Twitter Thread form:
To imagine what it's like for the boys on their way out of the cave, take a look at this headcam footage from the diving team:
Yesterday, a team of doctors including an Australian, assessed the trapped boys, and prioritised which ones would be brought out first:
The Thai government released graphics of how the rescue would take place:
The first four boys were brought out faster than expected, surprising some of the reporters waiting on the road between the cave and the helipad.
The four boys were airlifted to hospital in nearby Chiang Rai:
No more boys are expected to be rescued in the next four hours. The rescue of those boys used up all the tanks of air which were stationed along the escape route, meaning more tanks will need to be taken in
The process of moving tanks in and out of the cave can be hazardous. This is what ex-Thai Navy SEAL Saman Gunan was doing when he died late last week.
The government says the entire operation - including bringing the boys out in groups and restocking the tanks could take days. Meanwhile, rain is falling in the catchment, meaning water is likely to start flowing into the cave again.
