Ha ha ha guess whose oven exploded ha ha ha ha what a wonderful week this has been and is continuing to be ha ha ha oooooh god.
1) "Exploded" is a big word. In this case, something decided to go POW inside the oven itself. It was contained by the closed oven door, but the oven is completely full of glass and twisty damage. We think maybe the heating element?
2) The stove still works, although I'm leery about using it--I don't know enough about ovens to know whether this is dangerous. It's electric, not gas, so there's that on my side, at least.
3) Ha ha ha ha ha oh god.
Mom, who actually speaks "fixing things," is going to clean out the broken glass, etc., and figure out whether this was the heating coil or what. If it was, she should be able to fix it. If it wasn't, we buy a new oven.

WHY DID YOU WRITE THE FIRST BOOK?

I wrote a song several years ago, called "Wicked Girls Saving Ourselves." It's the title song of my second "serious" CD, which got nominated for a Hugo Award. It was about all the girls from portal fantasies who got a raw deal.
When @LeeAHarris at @TorDotComPub asked me for a novella, I thought of that song, and how much I wanted to write the story that went with it, but how much I didn't want to be locked into those unhappy endings. The story followed.

Like most people, I like what I like. I like canned peas and candy corn and hard cheeses. I like plain chicken breasts with a little bit of salt. I like Diet Dr Pepper and I like blueberries and I like popcorn.
I also like things that aren't food! I like My Little Ponies (generation one) and I like ball-jointed dolls and I like collectible pins and I like blind boxes. I like big towels and too many pillows and American Girl doll furniture.
Maybe you like all these things, too! Maybe you like none of these things! Maybe, like most people, you're somewhere in the middle, positive toward some things, negative toward others, neutral toward many.

Every field requires a time to lie fallow. We say "fallow fields" as if that means something useless, but really, it means rest and restoration. It means giving the soil time to heal. Be as kind to yourself as you are to the soil.

1/ OMG, the end of good times. No more left to do. Where’s the innovation. Shocking news from Apple on revenue, but needs some context.

Maturing or mature markets are not dead markets. The world did not change overnight even with this announcement.

This isn’t this is fine. This is fine but with a circle/slash around it.
2/ Smartphones are the first product that penetrated nearly the entire world from essentially two vendors (“google” and Apple). That itself is shocking.

It means dynamics at play are new to everyone. Predictions about future are tricky when one runs out of untapped customers.
3/ As many like @benedictevans and @asymco shown the growth in iPhone units has been slowing (to shrinking by some measures). That led to stopping the reporting of units from Apple “certainly a sign” as many noted.

so, we know supernovae are big and bright exploding stars. but what MAKES a star explode? do all stars explode? do all supernovae come from the same types of stars? what happens after they explode? well, lemme tELL ya: it’s..complicated.
some supernovae (SN) come from massive stars. HUGE. like, between 8x the mass of our Sun and >100x the mass of our Sun!!! can you imagine something that big?? (spoiler: I study them and I can’t. not really.)

Something weird is happening in the woods outside my house and I don't know what to do.
I guess I should start at the beginning. This isn't really my house, it was my grandpa's, but I guess it's mine now. He died a couple months ago and because of some tricky paperwork I'm apparently responsible for it now.
He lived pretty far away, up in the mountains by the lake. There are a couple other houses down the road but they seem like they're empty for the season. I assume they're summer houses. I've been here for a few days and it's really pretty, but it's super quiet and chilly.
