Why use the incredibly loose 4-wounded threshold? I mean, I actually know why, but still... smh
I appreciate that a lot of work went into this and I generally like @germanrlopez's stuff, but the only reason anyone anywhere uses 4-wounded threshold for "mass shooting" is to get a really big headline number, and everyone knows this and the jig is up on it.
The FBI's active shooter definition is far closer to what people think of when they think of "mass shooting." But then you'd only have a number in the teens, which sparks less outrage I guess.
Anyway, I know the Vox folks could've written this thread for me. There is probably an internal slack chat predicting one exactly like it from somebody. Everybody has to play their part in the public ritual, I guess.
