Am loving @peepethApp code of conduct, all of the interactions with it are likeable. 🙌

It's really cool that this real world service will run with any front end, anyone can fork it, and its truly resilient. This is how to explain what decentralisation is...
My only complaint is the obvious slowness of confirmations to @IPFSbot and @ethereum (must be some way to mask that for the user) and the lack of instant follows / gratification

@ricburton - I imagine @Balance_io folks could think of ways to make that possible?
The user experience is still a little bare bones, but it has a likeability that's hard to put my finger on. It's been built with ❤️
I quite like the idea of buffering transactions locally to later save to the blockchain - but I wonder if there's a more ambient way to do that than a big button 🤔
This in built tipping is super nice too, lots of little indications of where things might go

With decentralised exchanges now all the rage we have to learn the lessons of centralised exchanges

1) user experience has to be better

1) User experience is just awful on most centralised exchanges. There's no excuse for bad human centric design in 2018.

Who is the customer? What does crypto mean in their life? What job are they trying to get done?

Learn from the best in #fintech
2) Performance

I'm not sure how a Dapp can perform better than a centralised system but the big exchanges are SO bad it's not a high bar to leap over...

@0xProject gives me hope, but the proof is in the testing

First, I'm going to define power, so we are on the same page.

Power is knowing powerful people. And I mean knowing on a personal basis, having a relationship with said powerful person.

The reason this is power is because you have access to their resources, without owning them.
Putin and the Queen of England are powerful because they can directly control an infinite number of assets, without having to own them.

These are extreme outliers in power, but the basis is the same. It all depends on the scale.

Power, un-ironically, follows a Power Law.

Digitally Transforming the Mortgage Banking Industry is just a fantastic book. You should read it (critically, at points). It’s got one of the highest ratios of “novel insight” or “gobsmacking WTF” (sometimes simultaneous) per chapter I’ve seen.

You’ll get the most out of this book if you understand enough about mortgage industry to not need players in value chain explained to you. It’s a book by and for insiders; assumes good familiarity with e.g. securitization as a concept.
The central conceit for the book is that a mortgage is a manufactured product, a 700 page document written for the benefit of a buyer (who has authority to pick broker, who is you) but sold to an investor (via securitization).

Manufacturing process is 17th century.

So the long anticipated ICO freeze is coming techcrunch.com/2017/12/12/sec… is a good example of what's here now, and what's to come. I have three thoughts on this phenomena and how it's going to shape the markets as we go forwards into the regulated portion of the blockchain's future.
The first thing is that the smart money has always known the regulators were coming. reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comm… Obama made it clear nearly two years ago. Look at the length of the Reddit thread: people knew. The President told us the way this was going to go. Don't act surprised.
The second thing is that the regulators have an *amazing* array of tools at their disposal because people have been fleecing the public for centuries. Law evolves. Securities law, insider trading, anti money laundering etc. "Token" isn't a legal category so law gets to define it!
