Big ISPs told @repdonyoung of Alaska that rural Internet users are better off without #NetNeutrality, so he's backed away from a verbal commitment he gave to support it.

But as we've said before: the 2015 Open Internet Order is good for broadband deployment.
And big ISPs have specifically told shareholders that net neutrality did not affect their investment into infrastructure.

THREAD: At 3pm, the Senate will vote on a resolution to block the FCC’s #NetNeutrality repeal and restore basic protections that prevent companies like Comcast and AT&T from censoring online content, slowing down websites and apps, and charging expensive new fees.
Our work for Internet freedom will continue long after today, but the outcome of this vote will affect the battlefield that we are fighting on for years to come.

#NetNeutrality is a principle, not a concrete thing, like human rights. NN is the principle of an open internet, where service providers don't unfairly block or favor particular content, products, or sites. It levels the playing field for all internet users. Sounds good. 3/

#NetNeutrality regulations were set up by the previous administration to ensure that all data, all 1s & 0s traveling across the internet were treated equally and fairly - basically a utility like water and electricity - you pay for what you use or what’s included in your plan.1/x
Doing this prevented companies like Comcast and AT&T from messing with your data and internet experience - as both of those companies had been caught, prior to #NetNeutrality, either throttling, or blocking certain websites. 2/x
I can attest personally to the AT&T one since they are my own carrier, and have been for almost 20 years. They promised us unlimited data on our iPhone packages when it first came out, then they started throttling our speeds because we were actually using it. 3/x

1/ You’ve probably heard the basics by now. #NetNeutrality states that internet providers must treat all data equally. That access to the Internet means access to the WHOLE Internet.

If we lose that, what happens?
