Let's talk internet. You may have seen #NetNeutrality come up again as a hot topic. But why, you might ask, when sellout @FCC chair @AjitPaiFCC stomped all over it in spite of literally millions of people writing in to support net neutrality? Well, the fight's not quite over. 1/
All 49 Senate Dems plus GOP Senator Collins are forcing a vote to repeal @AjitPaiFCC's cow pie of a policy. 💩 The House is GOP-land, plus you-know-who's in the Oval Office, so the outcome's uncertain. Let me explain some serious hypocrisy re: NN. 2/

#NetNeutrality is a principle, not a concrete thing, like human rights. NN is the principle of an open internet, where service providers don't unfairly block or favor particular content, products, or sites. It levels the playing field for all internet users. Sounds good. 3/
The GOP, which likes to paint itself as the party of freedom, really clues us in to the lie with this one. The only people who benefit from doing away w/ #NetNeutrality are corporations & their shareholders. If you can pay, you get to play. 💸 The huge problem here is access. 4/
If an internet service provider can block or slow access if a person doesn't pony up the cash, that could dramatically hurt the ability of low-income folks to access information. We all know we're living in the Information Age. Free access is critical for a free society. 5/
Which brings me to hypocrisy. The GOP doesn't get to claim being the party of freedom if they sell out our access to information to help big business & their rich friends get richer. They (including @SteveKnight25) already sold out our browsing data. 6/

Between now & Weds, call your Senator & Representative. Thank them if they're voting to repeal the FCC rules. If they aren't, urge them to change their mind. Explain that you rely on a free, open internet. Check your reps' stances at this site, & RT! #
