I feel like there is an additional dimension of this debate that has to be constantly highlighted: it's not just 'yes algos, no algos, better algos,' it's also: who gets to design,scope, evaluate their use? #designjustice

One would have thought that Tweets with Childlock as this, simplified to the fullest will not need explanation but they sometimes confuse the simple folks one was trying to help from sinking in the linguistic territory abnitio.
There is no one with a meaningful purpose that has a clear path. You can only have clarity on your ability and capacity (if you have found yourself) and would need to trust God in the rest. Look at Moses, was his path clear before the read sea? Of course not. It seemed impossible

Must be something in the air...so...OKRs (thread)

If an org has a coherent model for value creation, a way to address uncertainty & assumptions, an actual strategy, and all of that has been communicated/processed...then OKRs are easy/an afterthought (1/4)

The problem is when OKRs become “the thing”....overloaded to try to do all of the jobs above and more (performance management, even). They are not fit-for-purpose for these jobs, and pretending that they are can be damaging to the team. (2/4)
A big problem is uncertainty. I can give you an OKR for carrying bricks across my parking lot. Or increasing avg shopping cart $ size.

Many prod dev efforts aren’t that neat and tidy. OKRs are context-less. There’s not a one-pager attached to an OKR (most of the time) (3/4)

A lot of software developers LOVE to opine on management and management theory.

Partly, it's because like any worker, software developers are often subject to mismanagement, but unlike most workers, have a domain (code) where they have some (or significant) autonomy
But mostly, I think, we see a lot of software developers talking about management because we are paid to be system thinkers, and management is the system which most dramatically impacts our everyday lives

Often, negatively
Part of the problem of management is that it's the job of building complex systems with incomplete data and lots of pressure. You have business results to produce, you have a finite amount of time to produce them

trans gets equated to "sex worker" or "pedophile"

and then before you know it, the state cracks down on everybody that isn't straight, cis, white, and "gainfully employed"
