Maritime University granted approval by the National Universities Commission (NUC) to commence undergraduate degree programmes effective from 2017/2018 academic session. On March 12, 2018,lectures commenced. A total of 338 students so far admitted into the University

NUC approved that academic activities commence in three faculties namely: Transport, Engineering and Environmental Management. #NDNewVision
Two of the licensed modular refineries in the Niger Delta under construction. 7,000bpd OPAC refinery, in Kwale, Delta State; and 10,000bpd Niger Delta Petroleum Resources (NDPR) refinery, in Ogbele, Rivers State. Both refineries expected to be completed & operational by end 2018.
Commencement by @HYPREPNigeria of procurement process for contracting experts for the remediation and clean-up of impacted sites in Ogoniland. The process was open to national and international companies involved in environment, water and livelihood projects. #NDNewVision
Upon conclusion of procurement processes, actual Remediation phase of the Cleanup is expected to commence by the 4th quarter of 2018. This will include the following:

- Delineation and Remediation of selected twenty six (26) sites identified in the 1st phase of the Clean-up exercise

- Construction of new comprehensive water schemes and rehabilitation of existing ones

- Development of a Livelihood Assessment/Implementation Plan

Establishment of the Ogoni Trust Fund Escrow Account, in Q2 2018. The Ogoni Trust Fund Account will hold and disburse the $1 Billion for the Ogoni Cleanup, over a 5-year period. The first Tranche of $170m to kickstart the Remediation will be disbursed imminently. #NDNewVision
Flag-off, in October 2017, of N120 billion Bonny-Bodo road project, to be jointly funded by Nigeria LNG and the Federal Government of Nigeria. The 34-kilometre road project will link Bonny Island to the Mainland. #NDNewVision
Approval by FEC, in May 2018, of a four-member ministerial committee charged with ensuring speedy completion of the East-West Road, which stretches from Warri in Delta State to Oron in Akwa Ibom state, and was originally awarded about 12 years ago.

The Federal Government has budgeted N1 billion towards the development of Ibaka Deep Sea Port in Akwa Ibom, as well as approved the establishment of an Export Processing Zone—comprising a Gas City Project at Ogidigben, and a Deep Sea Port in Gbaramatu, Delta State.

The @MNDA_Ng and @NDDCOfficial have both seen increases in budgetary allocations between 2017 and 2018. #NDNewVision
Still on the Maritime University, in Nov 2017, President Buhari approved an increase in take-off grant from the N2bn earlier announced, to N5bn. Also, an additional N1bn approved by the President to support essential infrastructure works and staff recruitment in the University.
