Interesting comment on the role of journalists and the responsibilities of platforms in a civic society. Roughly: platforms distribute speech without (much) judgment; it is a (the?) role of journalists to counter that speech with more speech.
I guess one objection to this is that we have our own work to do: lots to report, illuminate, explain and unearth. Is it on us also to be *direct* counterbalances to all the unsubstantiated rumors out there?
It would be great if “more journalism” were the solution to every problem but I worry that that, as they say, does not scale.
