There have been a lot of funerals lately, and more expected soon. It sucks. It also makes me more aware of dark humor in bad taste.
I'm sure your world is brighter and it is just intended in good fun, but do be aware that others have recently faced stinging losses.
And I'll be aware that not everyone is hurting, and no harm is intended.

Back in the 80s and 90s, many managers waxing rhapsodic over the idea of a "management-driven business" where there are no employees other than managers, and all the work is outsourced.

The idea of "everyone is a manager" was written up in journals.
And then there was this thing -- "agile" -- where the idea was that teams would take an active role in managing themselves. And then "lean startup" where the people formerly managing become more like business analysts and team members.
Now the idea of being a middleman, where you take needs from a customer base somewhere and outsource all the work -- seems kind of crazy. It seems like it would ensure rapid obsolescence of the management org.

Dunning-Kruger is a beastly thing.
A has 1 liter of something, unaware there's more: "I own all of this!"
B has 2 liters of the same thing & is aware 1000 more exist. "I have practically nothing"
Yet the 2nd has twice as much.
This makes self-assessment very hard. People with very shallow knowledge assume themselves to be 10 of 10. People with deep knowledge claim less than 1 out of 10; maybe this explains much.
Given any process or any idea, and you'll often find that the strongest detractors and strongest promoters are sure that they know it all, but really have very little depth in the topic.

These dots represent programmers at your company. We arranged them according to how fast they turn around assignments. Which are your "best" programmers?
Ah, but there is a trap here. It's a one-axis image. Is speed all that there is to development? Is the one who makes the most output doing the most good, or the most damage?
It's like we need a second axis to make this representation meaningful. The colors sort of imply that, no?

I'm pretty blown away when I look at Winter and Ralphie and see the difference between the two just from their different diets alone.

I feed Ralphie a Prey Model Raw diet, which means I feed exclusively raw meat and bones (chicken, pork, beef, fish, what I can get my hands on)
I do give him some fruits and veggies as treats (though to be real he's like me and prefers fruits over veggies) that are not toxic to dogs, but his diet is mostly raw meat. To be specific, his daily meals are 80% meat, 10% bone, 10% organ (5% of which is liver)
None of this is cooked, and he absolutely loves it - even if he does do everything possible not to touch any of it with his paws, he really does not like getting dirty. The downside - its expensive and time consuming. I have to prep his meals in advance, otherwise pay for premade

* modern farming

Modern farming is what happens in Iowa, etc. 10,000 acre plots of corn. Feed lots. 4,000 cows. Manure ponds.

The transition to modern farming happened during / after WWII, but was really just a continuation of existing trends.

What I do is analyze Trump's speeches and interviews the way I might analyze a story, or any other bit of communication. Language and character are my specialties.
