This entire passage from the fallout over @kateconger's reporting is another example of tech not understanding the basics of journalism 
I've spent twenty minutes trying to figure out how the Times "overplayed their hand." That leads me to believe Google employees think that the NYT tech reporting staff are all rubbing their hands together like Mr. Burns, plotting to take down Google at every instance
Also, any journalist worth paying attention to, when given information about something big happening within a big company, is going to get that information out ASAP. Google's CEO addressing Dragonfly qualifies as "something big." Sitting on that info is a dereliction of duty.
Also, lol at these anonymous Google employees trashing other anonymous Google employees, and their anger is rooted in the very behavior they are exhibiting. I didn't know the coda to "Don't be evil" was "...be petty."
