Seeing a thread about screening and a response I've received from a few potential clients regarding asking for their personal info. They sometimes ask if I'll give them mine in exchange for it to be "fair." I don't give out my personal info, here's what I have already given:
1) My website, which I have spent hundreds of dollars on and many hours of my time building to let you know what to expect from me and showing you how to find most of my online history and trail as Asteria.
2) Many photos of me that have been verified by multiple ad sites through me giving *them* my personal information to act as a middleman. Those pictures are intimate ones and also not cheap.
3) Easy access to see my membership at verification sites and ad sites that also look at my real information and that I often pay a lot of money to maintain.
4) Links to the few review sites that are still up even though I hate them so that people can read perspectives about me from someone other than myself.
5) Social media accounts that let you see my personality and such over time. This also puts me at risk of the more clever malicious types trying to put pieces together and stalk. It's happened to providers I know.
So yes, I will ask for your personal info, because when you start a conversation with me, most of the time all I have is a phone number or email address, maybe a name that's probably fake, and your word that "you're a good person." Sorry, but no.
That's not a "fair" exchange. Remember that historically providers are punished waaaay worse than clients in the event of any legal ramifications. Also many of my clients are larger and stronger than me. I need to know, as far as I can, that you're not dangerous.
So I get if that type of screening isn't comfortable for you. If so, move onto a provider with a system you can live with. But also remember that careful providers are themselves less likely to end up in any situations that also put the rest of their clients at risk.
Screening keeps EVERYONE safe. I know it's scary. But it's scary on everyone's end. There are different risks we take, but we all take risks. If I'm gonna meet a total stranger alone, I need some safeguards. And you wanting my personal info is not a "fair" exchange.
