Ace women revealing their asexuality can be perceived as a threat to the sexuality of toxic men, which can lead to violence and abuse.
Because masculinity and aggressive sexuality are so internalized in men, any sexual "rejection" or dismissal can be perceived as threatening to their feeling of being a man.
For many men, sexual performance is tied to their masculinity in a fragile manner, and if any threat, disruption, or challenge occurs, men too often react violently.
Men are conditioned to quell these threats to their sexuality aggressively and violently. Any lack of reciprocal sexual interest from someone a man sexually desires is a potential threat to that person's personal safety.
Since asexuality is commonly perceived as a lack of sexual attraction or interest, ace women may frequently endure the possibility of violence from fragile toxic men who invest their masculinity in women's sexual interest in them.
Ace women, and all women, have to constantly consider how men may react whenever their toxic sexual advances are denied. The threat of violence leads to many ace women being silent about their identity due to how it may be perceived.
At the same time, many ace men have internalized through social conditioning that aggressive sexuality = manhood (which is positioned as an ideal), but since many ace men do not possess sexual desire, they may force themselves to perform sexual desire or engage in sex.
